Description

You have found the perfect quiet place for a mountain getaway! Just 30 miles east of Eugene, our home is perched above the historic Goodpasture Covered Bridge over the pristine McKenzie River...uniquely situated unlike any other!

We are about a quarter mile above the river and covered bridge on six acres of beautiful private land. Because we're not situated directly on the highway, there is minimal traffic sound.

This 800 sq ft private apartment/home is the lower level of our home. Access to your space is separate and private from our living space. It sleeps 4 with a queen bed and a raised queen air bed. We also have a full-size tree house that can sleep 2-3.

Vida is a small and quiet town located 20 miles east of the Springfield/Eugene area. This home is ideally situated between the city and the main part of the McKenzie River Trail and Three Sisters Wilderness.

Towels and bed linens provided. Kitchen has 4 burner stove top, oven, microwave, refrigerator, toaster, coffee pot (or coffee press), and has all the basics for cooking. Living room has TV, DVD player, and WiFi (no streaming, please). Outside the French doors of the kitchen is a gas grill. Your space has its own water heater and washer/dryer.

Although we live on the property and are available if you need us, we like to leave our guests to enjoy their privacy. We are seeking to provide a peaceful place for ourselves and guests and to respect our neighbors.

Things to do during your stay:

Bike or hike McKenzie River Trail
Raft or drift float the river with local guides
Visit the fish hatchery at Leaburg Dam
Local Organic Farm for fresh produce (near Leaburg Dam)
Kayak on the Dam or river
Walk down to the river to fly fish below the bridge
McKenzie River Lavender Festival (every July)
Nearby day trips: Blue Pool, Clear Lake, Belknap Hot Springs
Play golf at McKenzie River Golf Course or Tokatee Golf Club

You'll want to come with groceries! There's an Albertson's in Springfield, if you're coming from the west.
There is bus access in Vida, traveling between the McKenzie Bridge and Eugene.
The Vida Cafe is one mile east of us - nothing fancy, but a great local place, especially for breakfast.
Across the street from the cafe is the Vida Market. It not full-service, but you'll find basic and last minute grocery items there. They also serve take-out pizza, sandwiches, ice cream, coffee, etc.
Ike's Pizza is only a mile west of us, across from the Leaburg Dam. The River Stop Restaurant and Walterville Market are both located in Walterville, about 9 miles west of Vida, on the way from town.

If you are seeking a space for guided reflection and renewal, Jeff offers one-on-one Spiritual Direction for a fee. The space and unpretentious grounds invite you to step aside, enter sacred space, and find rest for your soul.

Where do I begin? Janet and Jeff are absolutely amazing!! My husband and I stayed for three months and it was just perfect for us! We have a dog and a cat, both well behaved. Janet and Jeff welcomed us with open arms and treated us to a bottle of wine in a welcome basket on arrival! They were always really quick to respond no matter what it was we needed. we could have not asked for a better view, better people/friends, or a more perfect fit for us. The drive to town was stunning, and the place is fully stocked with everything you could possibly need or want. There is a cafe and a pizza place, and gas station nearby that we often took advantage of (delicious)! And the river is just below the hill, and a pleasant walk and great spot for fishing! We were able to use the post office nearby as well for our stay to send and receive mail. You can hear the water from the house. Deer are frequent wonderers and are fun to watch. The place is spacious and beautiful to say the least! Would definitely recommend! We will be returning!

Jeff and Janet have a lovely piece of property. The view is amazing, the area is quiet. The apartment was spacious for my little family of four. The home is clean and has the basics. Our little girls felt right at home with the rocking horse and game basket. We will return again if we are ever in the area. The drive up to Belknap Hot Springs took us 25 minutes which did not feel to far to travel.

This place was a well-lit, clean, and comfortable walk-out basement apartment. Directions were very clear, and they had everything we needed to have a comfortable stay. There was a lovely open yard with a backdrop of the valley the river was in with friendly deer outside the windows.

We loved where we stayed, this place was so serene, relaxing and beautiful! We stayed mid-week and we were only a short drive away from antique shops, good food, and grocery stores. We were quite busy running errands and visiting friends. We truly felt this was a home away from home, we felt very comfortable! Having the kitchen and washer and dryer made this stay easier and more comfortable. We had many up close deer sightings and it felt like a bird sanctuary right outside our windows. Thank you Janet and Jeff.

We were greeted by the cooing of doves and garden lights as we arrived just before dusk. Janet and Jeff's quiet hillside home was just what we were looking for. The apartment was luxuriously appointed with welcoming treats, great coffee and soft thick towels just to name a few indulgences. The "neighborhood" was peaceful and the isolated feel of the yard & surrounding wood was perfect for the alone time we sought. The McKenzie was just a quick "roll" down the hill, we got in some good casting practice even if the fish didn't bite. So, we BBQ'd steaks on the grill provided. Thanks for a great weekend!

We moved here five years ago to enjoy the McKenzie River and its surrounding beauty. We are excited to share the same with our guests! Jeff works as a Spiritual Director and Janet is both a bookkeeper and Certified Music Practitioner. As a CMP, she serves hospice patients at the bedside with live music. We enjoy good wine and food, great conversation, gardening, traveling, and movies. We've traveled extensively and look forward to discovering new destinations.
