There are plenty of green areas and river walks and also, the Canary Wharf shopping mall and all the places to eat and drink in the Canada Square area which is the heart of the financial district.

Description

My place is close to Crossharbour, South Quay and Canary Wharf stations. Docks Farm London, and Pan Peninsula Square.

There are plenty of green areas and river walks and also, the Canary Wharf shopping mall and all the places to eat and drink in the Canada Square area which is the heart of the financial district.

The areas to be shared with another 3 airbnb guests (all professionals) are the kitchen, toilet and bathroom.

This flat is very bright and spacious overlooking trees and greenery all around which is a real treat specially being in the heart of the modern financial district of London. Canary Wharf is only five or ten minutes away with its huge underground shopping areas, its bars, restaurants, cinemas, etc. Also, the flat is only five minutes away from a massive supermarket. When using the train, the flat is right between Crossharbour and South Quay stations. Only five minutes walk to each of them.

The room is very bright and spacious and has a massive cupboard style wardrobe so, storage could never be an issue. The areas to share are the fully fitted kitchen, the shower and separate toilet. All immaculately clean.

I don't live in the property but in the area and am always within immediate reach on the phone to help with whatever issues guests have or any information required.

To understand the character of Canary Wharf and the Isle of Dogs, one would have to dig out on the internet since the area is the remnants of the Docklands that was destroyed during the Blitz. It has regenerated as the modern financial district of London and resembles Manhatan. There are some residential blocks around it and along the river one of which is Llandovery House where the flat is. Although this block is not along the river, it is in a little pocket of greenery that makes it most comfortable and cosy. Easy to imagine that one is in the middle of the countryside.

A security deposit charge has just been added for lost keys. Lost/not returned keys will incur the charge of the full deposit with no exception.

- All guests have keys to the flat and no one else is expected to call at the door. Guests are never expected to attend to it at all unless expecting a food order to be delivered of course. Rules against smoking are tight as guests are not welcome to smoke outside the front door either. So, smokers need not enquiry. As pointed above, basic manners and consideration are expected in terms of noise as the flat should be in a sleeping mode between 23 hours and 08 hours. This means noise kept to a minimum during this time. Also, the shared areas are kept immaculately clean for all to enjoy so, guests are expected to leave any area as clean and tidy tidy as found. The kitchen can certainly be used for all its purposes except for cooking meat. If this is to be consumed, it should be bought already prepared. Environmental awareness is expected too as the flat operates a green policy in all aspects. Everything should be left turned/switched off when leaving the flat. Also, all waste should be separated into two different bags, one for recycling and another one for composting. We are very lucky that we can place all recyclables in the same bag so, the only thing to separate is the compostable stuff. There's a small bin in the bathroom for hygiene materials like cotton buds and feminine care.

The room was as advertised, and clean and tidy upon arrival, with a nice view of No. 1 Canada Square! Angel is a great host, very communicative and always responded promptly when contacted. Also appreciated the flexibility with extending my stay and general London advice/encyclopaedic knowledge of the area. A+ !

I really enjoyed my stay at Angel's flat. Room are like they are on the add, clean and quiet. The commons are also kept clean and Angel is very helpful and promptly addressed any issue I had. Actually, I ve extended my stay..!

Angel is a fantastic host - really attentive and thoughtful. Any time I had issues to bring up he was on it, although sometimes it took a couple of days to get a response. That's reasonable though, and became better once we started communicating through instead of email. The flat is kept really clean - Angel swung by at least once a week to tend to it and make sure everything was clean, emptying the bins and refilling toilet tissues etc. Sharing with three people wasn't really problematic - it got a bit tight in the kitchen in the mornings sometimes but we mostly had different schedules. Angel keeps a high standard on house rules and guest selection, so I never felt I was stuck with annoying . The room is quite nice too. Big double bed, large desk and heaps of closet space. My one big gripe was with the neighbors. The upstairs ones are a family with small kids, who regularly screamed and stomped about even after 11pm on weekdays. The parents tended to scream back at them, and the walls are quite thin - not the best environment to relax in. I brought it up with Angel, and he showed lots of concern about the issue, and has apparently tried hard to address it. So I have to give him credit for that, but at the same time I can't help but mention the problem because it bothered me a fair bit - especially since I'm a uni student and needed peace and quiet when reading. The area is really good in terms of convenience - there's massive Asda just a few minutes' walk away, with spectacular prices and selection. There's also a Tesco Express across the road for smaller purchases, and a post office and a doctor's office too. The DLR is a short walk away too, and gets you into the city pretty fast. Don't expect to have fun around the neighborhood though - strictly families and suits (when you walk over to Canary Wharf). But does it really matter when the city is so accessible? All in all a great flat and room in a lackluster building with annoying neighbors. Hopefully that last part will be addressed soon enough.

Angel is a good host. He was helpful and attentive. The flat was in good condition and close to Canary Wharf. Finding permanent accommodation in London can be tricky and the flat itself was good for in the meantime. It was however, very very noisy. The upstairs neighbours woke me up at least once, usually multiple times per night. I'm not a very light sleeper and I even bought earplugs for the occasion. This caused me to arrange for other accommodation before the move-out date (after 3 out of the 4 weeks). This created some friction between Angel and I, because I felt this either should be addressed or mentioned on the AirBnB. I ended up travelling the last week for work, so came back on the move-out date to pack my stuff, but paying double rent due to noise isn't great. Angel had a flexible move-out policy and since I had not heard anything I was packing to move out at 12PM on the day. However, he arrived at the flat at 11AM and he told me that there were guests coming and 1.30. He was visibly annoyed that I hadn't left yet. I would've had no problem with leaving earlier, but this should've been communicated. I think Angel is a good host & the noise is out of his control, but I feel that it should be mentioned. Waking up at 2 and 4am really hinders a proper night's sleep.
