The place was definitely not ready to be rented. My host tried to be polite and answer but it took a long time to get results of what was offered for the apartment.
The place is spacious and nicely decorated. But it was terribly dirty, as if someone has been inhabiting, suddenly left him and so stayed with things half use and huge amounts of dust everywhere; some electrical appliances half working. My host offered to send someone to clean up after my arrival, but of course I had started the cleaning up and by the time being, it was very difficult to coordinate time for another third person to come. I think the place should be ready before my arrival.
After three weeks of my stay (half of it), a new refrigerator was purchased and the air conditioning was fixed. The AC covers only the living room and refreshes one of the rooms at the back; the main room is kept very hot (we are in the middle of summer!). Having the AC and the new refrigerator did change my perception in the place because I could now spent more time there and cook.
The mattress in the main room is very old and uncomfortable; but it is the only room with empty cupboards. The artificial light in the rooms is very dim.
The TV does not work. The kitchen is generally well, it just have to be thoroughly cleaned and sink must be fumigated because there are some cockroaches living there.
The bathroom and the washing machine work well. The apartment has a couple of nice terraces. The overall cleanliness of the building is not very good.
The neighbors are good people and no one bothered me. The location is fine if you want to live in Heliopolis or relatively close to the airport. But is not so close to the centers of entertainment and culture. There are good grocery stores close by to find food.
In general, the apartment has the potential to be a nice place to live but unfortunately in my experience it hasn't been ready for it.
