We are located in one of the nicest and safest old uptown neighborhoods in the city. The Touro neighborhood is bordered by Napoleon and Louisiana Avenues and between St Charles and Magazine Streets. I find it hard to believe how many hosts claim to be in the Garden District, and they are not (I am not, I'm in the next neighborhood, Touro) The Garden District runs from Louisiana Ave to Jackson Ave. and between St Charles and Magazine, (That's it, If you cross the street your not in the GD) I have honestly listed, every detail of the "Artist Home" you are viewing. I will happily answer any questions regarding this home and n' hood or regarding other listings you may be comparing it to, before making your final decision. This is not an inexpensive neighborhood to live in and is therefore not the least expensive place you'll find. Many listings from areas that flooded during Katrina, have fantastic renovations, but some of the neighborhoods are perhaps not the best for guests that don't know the city very well. We are in a great location for traveling professors visiting Tulane and Loyola. I welcome monthly guests. You are always free to make an offer within your budget.

THIS IS THE ABSOUTUTE BEST PLACE FOR CARNIVAL!!! Watch all of the most beautiful Mardi Gras parades from this safe, picturesque, trendy neighborhood. This Romantic Uptown Artist's home is just 3 short blocks to Napoleon Ave and 4 to St Charles. The Traditional Parade Route, wraps around us! It's close enough to catch everything you'd want and yet just a few blocks away, it provides a quite and peaceful retreat from the merriment on both Avenues. If you'd like to see Mardi Gras with the help of seasoned experts or you're from here and know the drill, you'll be able to kick back and relax and still see it all! Mid-City is just 10/15 minutes away, you can dance the days away at the LA Fairgrounds where our beloved Jazz Festival is held (April/May) for 2 weeks each year. Uptown is also home to Audubon Park and Zoo, Tulane and Loyola Universities and loads of fabulous, trendy restaurants, bars and music clubs as well as the beautiful architecture that makes this city a delightful place to take that romantic stroll. (SEE MY N'Hood GUIDE BOOK)

This Charming Artist's home in 1/2 of typical New Orleans double shotgun house. It is best suited for a single person, couple or a couple with a friends. Preferably for the 27+ crowd. It has 3 large rooms, living room, kitchen/ dinning room combo, a very comfortable bed room and bath with a large claw foot tub /shower. The ceilings are 12 ft high and the space is approx. 800 sq. Ft. Fully furnished; bed linens and towels are all 100% cotton, dishes, microwave, stove/oven, frig, dishwasher, washer/dryer, central air and heat, toaster oven, coffee maker, fast wireless internet and Direct TV with all pay channels, HBO, etc. and DVR recorders, so you don't need to miss any of your favorite shows). It has hardwood floors and ceiling fans through out the house and on the front porch too. I usually put fresh flowers in the LV and fresh fruit along with great coffee, juice, breakfast items (bagels or English muffins) and bottled water in the house for all my guests. This beautiful, safe, neighborhood has tons of cool bars and hip restaurants, all within WALKING distance. Here's a few of those, Breakfast, Tapas, Mexican, Indian, Middle Eastern, Pizza, Vietnamese, BBQ, Thai, Sushi, Seafood, Fried Chicken and more! Old New Orleans classics like Casamento's, The Upperline, Pascal's Manale, Nanou's Bistro and Commanders Palace; Cool new places like The Standard, Shaya, Magasin, , Theo's, LA Thai, Saucy's and hip upscale new digs like Saveur, Le Petit Grocery, Lilette, Bouligny Tavern,to name a few! There is a large Rouses and small Zara's Grocery, with in walking distance, The Fresh market and Whole food are also very close. A 24 hour CVS Drugstore is walkable too. I could mention all the bars if need be; Fat Harry's, Tipitina's, King Pin, Milan Bar, Miss Mae's, May Fair, Delachase and the Columns just to name a few!!! It's the most beautiful place on earth to see da Mardi Gras! All of the parades float by just a few blocks away on Napoleon and St Charles Avenues. The historic St Charles Street car and the Magazine Bus are just steps away, going Up (Universities, Audubon Park /Zoo) and Downtown (French Quarter, Marigny, CBD) in just minutes! It also has me, a 5th generation New Orleanian to help you in anyway I can. There are many fabulous shops and galleries (Clothes, Antiques, Jewelry, etc) all near by!!! The shopping on Magazine street is simply fantastic!!!!!!

Please note: There is only one bed , The sofa is very comfortable for one person (but it does not open up) I may be able to provide a full size futon if requested in advance. There's lots of original artwork in the house, many of the beautiful Mardi Gras paintings (that can be seen in the listings photos) are by famous New Orleans Artist Bob Graham. The rockers on the front porch are a great place to have your morning coffee and plan your day or an evening cocktail before dining at one of our great restaurants or seeing some world class music!

Guest have access to most everything, but the Washer/ Dryer, is only for guest staying longer than 14 days. Parking is street side, but there is ample room to park, either in front or on the side street as the house is on a corner. Parking is really not a problem.

I interact with my guests as much or as little as they want or need! I'm just next door if guests have any problems or need anything at all! There is a manual for all of the fixtures, appliances and everything else in the house. I also supply several restaurant review and guide books as well as the current weekly newspapers and magazines with club, gallery and theater listings to help you make great choices of where and what to do in da Big Easy!!!

Summertime in this is a safe, lively, uptown neighborhood with beautiful homes on a pretty tree lined street is a great way to see all of New Orleans. You can go to all the movies, theaters, clubs and popular restaurants with no reservations, lines or hassles. Good air conditioning here and at all the places you want to go, makes this a great time of year to do everything you want for less money and with no lines or over crowding. Loads of restaurants offer summer specials like 3 appetizers and a glass of wine for $26.00. It's a very affordable time to visit the Crescent City! From this location there are literally tons of hip bars, restaurants, cafes, antique shops and art galleries that can all be walked to or park right in front of all day and night. The Magazine bus or St Charles Street car will have you in the heart of downtown and the French Quarter in minutes!

In addition to be able to walk to many fabulous attractions uptown, (Audubon Park, Zoo etc.) it's just a short ride on the historic St. Charles Street Car to the French Quarter. The Magazine Bus also has you in the heart of downtown in just minutes.

This is the best location for Mardi Gras and there are very few places available around here, they usually get scooped up very early. Lots of the BnB's are booked by the same people every year so air bnb is a great way to finally find a place in this very desirable neighborhood.

Holly is a fabulous host with a wealth of knowledge about NOLA. Her place is comfortable and representative of a classic double shotgun - we loved it! The neighborhood is quiet but centrally located. An easy walk up to St. Charles St. to catch the streetcar or a 2 minute walk to Magazine Street where there are great shops & restaurants (Holly was invaluable at giving us tips). A truly enjoyable Mardi Gras week was spent at Holly's.

Holly is a fabulous host and very knowledgeable about NOLA and Uptown. We were there for the first weekend of Mardi Gras parades and Holly made sure we knew which were the best and where to watch them. She provided restaurant recommendations and was gracious and helpful throughout our stay, responding immediately when we had questions or needed info. Holly's place is cute, charming and full of great art, most of it her own. And the bed is one of the most comfortable I've ever slept in! Location could not be better - short walk to the streetcar, great restaurants and bars, and shopping. I heartily recommend Holly's place. Stay there!

Uptown funk is where it's at! Holly's place is everything you would want as a traveler living like a local. The house style with a front porch and beautiful overgrowing plants could keep you happy for an entire day. With so much action right around the corner - magazine street is full of fantastic restaurants and bars and shops and New Orleans ad hoc spots that it draws you out. No need for a car - everything walkable and uber was easy to use for late nights coming home. Holly's southern charm shined through - she was very responsive and very easy to check in and check out. And passionate about her New Orleans home. Top notch choice!

Great place, great host. The place is comfortable and well decorated. The full kitchen allowed me to cook most meals, and if I chose not to cook, there are a lot of restaurants in walking distance. Holly, the host, is very accommodating and next door or responsive to text. Overall a great spot.

This was the third time I've stayed at Holly's charming place, full of her colorful artwork, on beautiful Marengo St. Holly is a gracious hostess, lives in the other half of the double shotgun cottage, & is easy to communicate w/. It was delightful to see her, & settle in for a comfortable stay again. Parking is a cinch, both Magazine St. & St Charles are an easy walk. Both Tulane University, the Garden District, and the areas downriver are a short, to not very long drive. Great music venues like Tipatina's, The Maple Leaf, Rock n' Bowl & a slew of others are nearby. If you want some downtime, there's a deep clawfoot bathtub, a big porch w/ rockers, & a zillion Direct TV channels. I highly recommend Holly's place for a home-like, relaxed NOLA stay.

Holly puts the 'Super' in SuperHost! When she told me that I 'only needed to bring my toothbrush', I thought she was joking... But she wasn't! I felt completely at home in her place... Her knowledge of the area is outstanding, and the location of her place is fantastic. A truly authentic and wonderful NOLA experience!

Fifth Generation New Orleanian and Artist. (Painter). I LOVE this city and enjoy sharing it with guests from everywhere. I give lots of insider tips so my guests don't feel too much like tourists. If I could live in any neighborhood in the whole city (which I could) I'd still be exactly where I am!!! It's a really beautiful part of town and so centrally located Uptown, (Tulane. Loyola, Audubon Park/Zoo) Downtown, (CBD, French Quarter, Marigny, Bywater) and Mid City, (Jazz Fest, City Park, New Orleans Museum of Art) are all about equal distance away,(15 minutes) it's an ideal location no matter what brings you to town!!! Oh and all of the Mardi Gras Parades float by, just 3 blocks away!!!
