Description
Description

The Netloft is a converted traditional Mousehole fisherman's Netloft comprising a downstairs bedroom with a double bed and adjacent shower room and an upstairs sitting room and kitchenette set quietly at the end of an opeway (passageway) behind a row of Victorian houses.

The harbour, the beach, the local pub, the local delicatessen (for breakfast and snacks and meals throughout the day) and the village shops and restaurants are all within a two minute walk from the Netloft.

The entire Netloft is for the use of our guests and is accessed from the opeway (passageway) leading from the nearby road. The Netloft is not accessible by car but unloading can usually be done from the corner of Mill Lane and Chapel Street within 50 yards from it. The key is left in a key safe outside the front door.

We live in the village, nearby the Netloft, and our guests will have our telephone number and email address in case of need for help or support during their stay. We will also make sure thatour gusts have alternative contact details in case we are away.

Mousehole (pronounced "Mowzel") was described by Dylan Thomas in 1930 as "the loveliest village on England" and is still one of Cornwall's most picturesque hamlets. The village developed round its harbour (and the fishing boats that sustained it) and has a small and safe beach in the sheltered part of the harbour, protected from the sea coming across Mounts Bay by two sturdy breakwaters. Part of the South quay originates from 1390,

Mousehole is approx 3.5 miles from Penzance. A bus runs from the harbour to the bus station at half hourly intervals during the day. Parking is very restriced in the narrow roads of the village but there are public (paying) car parks at the end of each of the two quays, a (paying) private car park at the entrance to the village and (free) parking bays just outside the village at either end.

For the next few weeks, building works on adjacent properties and on improvement of the opeway may impact on the appearance of the access passage but works will usually take place during the working day and should not affect enjoyment of the Netloft unduly. The effect has been taken into account in the pricing of this accommodation

Getting to us.

We assume you will arrive by car, travelling to Mousehole via the M5/A30.
As you approach Penzance you will pass Sainsburys on your right. Bear left at the next roundabout (signposted Town Centre) and continue into Penzance passing the railway station on your left.

At the traffic lights, keep to the left as you enter the one way system and stay to the left on the right hand bend at the bottom of the hill. Then continue straight on (signposted Car Park, Scillonian, Newlyn) coming to the promenade with the sea on your left. Carry straight on at the roundabout at the end of the prmenade and you will pass the Queens Hotel on your right. Continue along the road to Newlyn. At Newlyn the road bends sharply to the left. Follow the road round the bend and continue on to Mousehole. The Old Coastguard Hotel is on your left at the entrance to Mousehole and you enter the village, turning left at the bend at the bottom of the hill and then following the bend to the right into the harbour. Continue to the war memorial and the bear left an d follow the road passed the pub (The Ship) and continue up the hill following the road to the right and to the left into Chapel Street. Continue through Chapel Street and take the first turning on the left which leads down to the south quay car park park there and pay the daily fee of £3.00 to Paul when you park. If he is not there and his hur is shut, it is best to see him and pay him the next day.

Andrew

I am a retired solicitor and my wife, Judy is a retired post mistress. Judy is from Wales and is a rugby fanatic. Judy has lived in the village for 43 years and I arrived here from London about 16 years ago. We both love our life in Mousehole. She loves cooking, while gardening and singing and driving my old car, Connie, are some of the pleasures I get from retirement
