Room 3 is a bright corner room with views to the harbour across the street. It has a single pull out couch and private bathroom ensuite. It is one of 10 rooms in the house and can be booked for one night or many nights. All guests have the use of kitchen space (we do not serve meals unless by special arrangement) and common areas in the house, including a great front porch which not only hosts great conversations but occasional music events as well.
Salty Towers is a 170 year old former Sea Captian's home. It became a boarding house just after the 1st World War and then a summer accommodation facility - The Seaside Inn - in 1921, operated by the captain's daughter Marjorie, who ran it for 65 years. We purchased the property in 1994 and reopened it as Salty Towers

We live in the house and are generally around. We encourage guests to ask questions about the house, the town, what to do, where to go and who to meet. We enjoy a drink on the porch and at times find ourselves immersed with guests in wonderful communal meals.
Salty Towers has been a home away from home for artists and musicians for years. We enjoy live acoustic music and often have house concerts and present shows in town. You'll be the first to know if anything is happening.
St Andrews is a wonderful community with lots to see and do. We'll gladly share a few secrets!
Because there are others living and staying in the house we ask that all guests be aware of that and act accordingly. Any event or party should be planned with the hosts.
We enjoy life and the world around us. James has worked as a scientist, educator, innkeeper, artist, naturalist and artist manager. Deb as a child youth worker and server. Music, travel and food have always been a part of our lives and we love to share stories and opportunities with others. We have 3 kids between us, one a wildlife rehabilitation worker, another a touring musician and the third an arts administrator/community developer.
