I want to start off to tell you about Sally, the host/owner of the river house. She will respond to any query you have within an hour or two. Sometimes right away. She was amazing at communication as well as giving out a full itinerary of what to do when you arrive and check out. She is very friendly and kind as well as patient. I am really thankful as it made it more enjoyable for our stay! The river house is on a private road with a lot of quiet peaceful noises of the river, crickets, frogs, and various birds. There is a nice front yard with plenty of sunshine and grass for children to run around in. There are plenty of options of places to sit in as well, such as seated hammocks, outdoor tables, a fire pit, a wooden swing, and a lovely screened porch that is really nice to sit in during an early morning. We saw an eagle fly by and watched many various birds flying around, cooling off in the water, or climbing on the trees. There is a cow on the other side of the river you hear sometimes too. Sally has everything you need during your stay! We used cups, dishes, pots, pans, and utensils. Although we brought food with us, if we forgot something, Sally has things available to use. We did eat some popcorn we found there. The bedrooms are very cozy and our children slept well in the big double beds while my husband and I had our first time sleeping in a king sized bed. There is air conditioning (central air) that we needed during the hot August nights of our stay. There are also some cute toys for younger kids and board games available, though we kept our kids away from that because we wanted them to simply enjoy nature and being together. If we had a rainy day in though I am sure we would have played with all of that (we had sun during our days there). As for the river, my suggestion to those staying there is to bring river shoes or wear full covering shoes that you don't mind getting wet. The surface of a river is rocky. Expect it to be so. You will probably get injured if you don't wear shoes going into the water. We had a lot of fun walking to the middle of the river and relaxing while sitting on rocks. There were some deeper areas to get your whole body under the water too, but it is mainly shallow. We did not use the tubes or kayaks that Sally provides as well, but that would have been fun too. Our boys were too nervous due to the current in the river. I especially loved the sunrise each morning. WE LOVED IT!
