I'm currently in the uk so guests liaise with local friend/co host Peter. It suits independent travellers...not those requiring constant attention. Plenty of basic advice and information is given. Noley, an elderly lady who lives directly below is janitor of the block and has spare keys for emergency.. though not to be bothered during unsociable hours.
Shoes off please :-) There are 2 bins in the kitchen- one is used for recycling. The bins are located on the ground floor round the back. Kevin the groundsman who works there will show you, and issue recycling bags if you ask. There is a water restriction in SA so guests are STRONGLY URGED to keep water consumption to a minimum. Only put short full loads of washing on 30 degrees cycle please (always consult the manual and allow the door AT LEAST 2 minutes after the end of cycle before attempting to open-sadly I once had a guest who forced the old machine before it had unlocked itself and broke it!) Also to be economical guests are asked to use the boiler/geezer only when necessary in these hot summer months to avoid it bubbling away.
Please take your shoes off when entering 'shoe free zone' this will simply keep the place cleaner - It's a quiet block so no super loud late night partying please, basic body Corporate Rules apply, a copy is provided in the apartment. Please be aware of the drought and water restrictions in place, take short showers, use short 30' cycle on washing machine, and turn the boiler/geyser on when hot water is required rather than leaving it boiling 24hours a day. the switch is clearly labeled and is in the box above the microwave. As stated above ABSOLUTELY NO SMOKING. Thanks very much for being thoughtful in this beautiful city :-)

Came to Cape Town a few years ago, fell in love with it. Got an amazing place 'stunning balcony sea view' (Please note: I have 2 listings) on the Atlantic Sea board on the edge of trendy Sea Point and looking to host cool, respectful, happy travellers who don't want to bring the party home, but anticipate will be quaffing on the fantastic wines this country has to offer-enjoy!!
My second listing is a stunning Studio apartment for 'sole use' in Green Point, it is also a gem and perfect for a single traveller or couple/friends sharing. PLEASE NOTE: If I'm ever unavailable due to last minute work (the joys and unpredictabilities of being in my industry!), a friend Peter Jones who lives close by will liaise with you.
Love a sense of humour and a smile; that's what you'll get with this Welsh girl :-) I aim to be a welcoming, relaxed host.
I fell for this place because of the best ever 50m lido (open air swimming pool) a scenic cycle along the prom, the ocean, stunning mountains, views and all the fantastic walks in the nature on offer a 5 minute walk from my doorstep.
The standard of food available here is amazing and though I'm generally really healthy when it comes eating I've discovered the best burgers (and deals) the town has to offer.. well the search goes on right?.. YUM.
Here I found myself smiling, singing, writing poetry and just generally feeling more elevated than I had for years in the U.K. Im an actress so I made it happen to get myself a work visa here. One of the best moves ever, well possibly not the best career move but health and happiness decided it was really time to come first and the realisation that hey...time flies. Life's short, grab it by the short n curlies!
Follow the sun, thats what I'm doing....
I used to travel to Sri Lanka/India or Thai Land for my yearly month of winter sun but now I'm whats regarded as a (young!) 'swallow', 6months here 6 months in the uk, mainly London but lots of Wales and countryside visiting friends and family. I can't sit still for long, love to keep moving. Cycling's a great way to get around (though be very careful), my friends run 'upcycles'- great bike hire available in various parts of Cape Town.
I take great delight in sourcing the best coffee shops on offer in various parts of town and have 3 AMAZING choices within a mile of my place, some good ones even closer.
Oh and I lOVE great music, especially reggae.....everyone should play reggae (almost) all of the time :-)
