I live up here alone. I paint, read, study and meditate. I am most often available for talking, listening to music, watching a movie, directions, tips of where to go depending on who is going, what you like to do and who you like to do it with. I have traveled for the last 25 years and am very comfortable talking with people from all over the world and different walks of life.

A very quiet and Rural Neighborhood. Large Amounts of Undeveloped Land for hundred's of miles to the North East. Just Beautiful. This is the Southern California High Desert.

I will Give you Directions. But please, you should use an offline version of G Maps as well (or another hard copy of a map) as it will be very useful.

**Also very important to note: There are no street lamps out here away from town. At night the roads will be dark and street signs hard to see. This is a small rural town and I live off a dirt road. The Roads here are maintained by the county, so the drivability in an average commuter vehicle is easy and safe. Just drive carefully.

**As soon as the sun goes down, everything looks different. Try to arrive before sunset. Please carry a flashlight with you as well.

We have 4 distinct seasons here. Mostly Lots of Beautiful Sunshine. Summer is very hot during the day (90's-100's Fahrenheit) and cooler in the evening (mid to upper 70's Fahrenheit). Autumn is warm during the day (70-80's F) and cooler in the evening (40-60's F). Winter is cold during the day (mid to upper 50's F) and colder at night (20-30's F). Spring gets warmer during the day (mid to upper 70's F) during the day and cooler at night (mid 50's F).

**These Temperatures are Only Estimates**

This is a Natural Desert. There are rabbits, little critters, snakes and scorpions. As in any Natural Preserve or National Park Area, be mindful of other living entities. Just look where you're going and use common sense.

You can park your vehicles on my property. We are 4 miles from the bus that run M-F. We are 13 miles from town. You are a 15 minute drive to Joshua Tree National Park Entrance Gate. There are 2 markets (Heroes and Dollar Tree), a Mini-Mart (Hallidays Liquor), Gas Station (Mobile) and a bar (Landers Brew) and Restaurants (Heroes & $5 Pizza Place) 7-12 miles from my home. In town (Joshua Tree and Yucca Valley), it seems like it's growing all the time with a Oriental Buffet Restaurant, Pizza, Sushi, and a handful of diners and Bars that serve food too (Prices range from low to moderate to expensive). There are also Food markets ( Vons, Stater Bros.,Food 4 Less), Pharmacies (Wallgreens, Rite-Aid), a Big 5 sporting Goods and even a Wallmart.

Fire Wood Available. $10 & $5 Bundles Available. Can be Added to your reservation prior to arrival and refunded if not used, no need to pay cash; for your convenience. Cash is also gladly accepted.

Shyama's Air BnB was exactly as described. We had a wonderful stay under the stars and Shyama was very helpful in making sure we had everything we needed. This is a great place to stay if you like rural camping in peace and quiet while remaining close to Joshua Tree park for some wonderful desert hikes.

Shyama was a very inviting host who always wants to make sure you're comfortable and is a pleasure to have a conversation with. He promotes a community vibe with those staying on his property. Shyama's place is the perfect opportunity to camp near Joshua Tree while avoiding the overly crowded campsites within the park. I would happily camp there again when I end up back in the beautiful Joshua Tree National Park.

If you've read every line of the listing and fully understand what you are (and not) being offered, you will really enjoy the stay at Shyama's place. Shyama was a lovely host, communicated with us constantly, addressed every concern we had in a timely manner and gave us precise directions to get to his place (You'll need it). The stay was comfortable, the restrooms clean and the campsite reasonably secluded, yet close enough to the main home. The only thing I'd like to point out (and this is mentioned in the listing) is that there's a 1.2 mile stretch of dirt road, on which you can't exceed 10 mph and the ride is somewhat bumpy. Having said that, if you have a front wheel drive or 4WD, you should be just fine. To sum up, Shyama is a fantastic host and if given the record visitations at Joshua Tree this year and the lack of campsite availability as a result, your best bet is to go with Shyama's place (conveniently located close to the park's West entrance). You won't regret it. Shyama, can I get the 20$ I was promised to write this review now? :P

A nice place to spend a night among nature. Shyama helped us to put the tent and install ourselves

Shyama was an extremely warm and welcoming host, he reached out to me with information as soon as I'd completed my reservation and tried to make sure we were prepared to camp. He was super comprehensive and was flexible with check in times as well as communicating despite spotty service in the desert. When we got there he gave us a tour of his property and gave us tips on where to pitch our tent which was nice. His facilities, while small, are clean and it was nice to be able to use a working toilet rather than a smelly port a potty as you would at many campsites. We were also able to use the fire pit in his backyard for a campfire which was really cool and he took the time to show us how to find kindling for the fire. He also had firewood available for purchase ($7 small, $10 large) so we didn't have to bring our own. Throughout our entire stay he was very friendly and shared lots of stories with us, and it was interesting hearing more about his life. We really appreciated how great of a host he was, and if you're looking for a place to stay with incredible views of the open night sky, this is it.
