'If you want to unplug from the world, de-stress and be inspired then this is the perfect haven for you..' - an excerpt from our very first guest review (see below for more...).

All photos included in this listing relate to the The Bakehouse with it's exclusive wild garden area to the rear, and the remainder of this stunning private two acre site - mossy rocks, ancient oaks, wild river, abundant wildlife, rare flora and fauna - all available for guests to enjoy as much as they wish.
If you wish to sleep under the stars, just bring what you need!
Please note that the accommodation at the Bakehouse remains true to the original design and function - it is, by modern standards, 'basic'. The traditional Jotul stove provides the main source of heating.
This is a pet friendly household (two cats here and many cats, dogs and other animals nearby) - therefore well behaved and cat friendly dogs (up to 2) are very welcome, by arrangement. Please bring everything you need for your dog(s).
We also welcome babes in arms (but not toddlers, sorry...). Please bring everything you need for your baby.
Échanges avec les voyageurs
We will endeavour to be here to welcome you on arrival and be (discreetly) around a lot of the time should you need anything during your stay.
Please feel free to contact us regarding any special requests or requirements.
Important NOTE re WINTER Bookings -
The bookings calendar is now open for selected weekends only, however additional nights may be available by request (enquiries very welcome).
The Bakehouse has been created from an ancient granite structure. Therefore during colder, wetter periods The Bakehouse is most comfortable when both much used and well heated by the traditional Jotul stove. There is also supplementary electric heating.
Please note that there is no tv, no mobile signal and not much in the way of luxuries - and whilst we do have wifi we are happy to withhold the password if you prefer.
A selection of teas, coffees and breakfast provisions are provided.
Please be aware that outside areas (two acres) are accessed via rough land, sloping paths, and uneven steep granite steps.
Please remember to include any dogs and/or babies in the guest count as well as yourselves.
Our No.1 Rule -
At the end of your stay please leave The Bakehouse as you (and we!) would wish to find it, thank you ;-)
I am a passionate nature lover who loves life on Dartmoor, living here with my husband Kevin and our two cute but completely crazy cats, Rocco and Max.
What do I love most about being here? The abundant wildlife and feeling immersed in the sights and sounds of nature - it is so rarely ever quiet here! Whether it's the rumbling of the river, the owls 'twit twoo-ing' to each other, or the ponies passing through, there's always something going on...
And then there's the night sky...
