This spacious ground-level apartment with a private entrance has a full kitchen & bathroom, separate bedroom, large living space, private patio, washer, dryer, & BBQ. Our home is driving distance to golf, hiking, Mt. Washington skiing, and water sports. Bring your car - it's 20 minutes to the Comox airport, a 12 minute drive into Courtenay, and 5 minutes to the Denman and Hornby islands ferry. Relax in the quiet gardens while enjoying the beautiful ocean views from the suite and the patio.
Relax in our quiet gardens that overlook beautiful Baynes Sound to Denman Island and the Coast Mountains of the mainland. Deer, rabbits, eagles, hummingbirds and herons are daily sightings, and if you're lucky there's an elk that makes a rare appearance. Sea lions barking and birdsong are the music we wake up to most days. The suite is part of our home, so we are always around if you need something or have a question about the area. The kitchen contains a full-sized stove/oven, fridge, microwave, kettle, coffee-maker, plenty of dishes and cooking utensils.
We've stocked the cupboards with coffee, tea, soap, and shampoo. If you need some spices, just knock on our door - we know what it's like to be travelling and need that 'little something' to add to what you're cooking.
You will find a credit union, a general store/liquor outlet, post office and auto mechanic all within walking distance of our home. The store stocks some very basic food items - not a huge variety, but good for emergencies. There is also a pub within walking distance, and a few other eating establishments/pubs within a 5 - 10 minute drive. The Kingfisher Spa is a quick drive as well.
Several walking trails are nearby - two great walks start just across the street from our door.
The TV in the suite comes with both cable and Netflix, and wifi signals are strong throughout the house. There is a take-a-book, leave-a-book bookshelf full of books - something else we have enjoyed on our travels, and are glad to make available to our guests.
Yoga classes are a 5-minute walk up the street on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, as well as on Wednesday mornings. $8 drop in fee - just ask me for details.
Our suite is quite large - about 850 square feet - and is a great home base for any activities in the Comox Valley. Whether you are here on business or for pleasure, we hope you'll enjoy our space. We love to meet new people, and welcome the chance to sit down and share a glass of wine and a story or three!

- We are on a septic field here, so please flush only what you've eaten or toilet tissue.
- No overnight guests
- Quiet time on the outside patio is 10 pm. Please respect our neighbours.
- We are flexible on the check in and out times but need to consider enough time for the cleaning on check-out day. If possible please be checked out by late morning so we have enough time to clean and prepare the suite for the next guests. Thanks!
- Enjoy your stay!
If you want to socialize with us - we'd love it! If you'd rather keep your visit private, then we'll respect that. We want you to have an enjoyable stay.
We are retired Canadians who decided to "ditch what's normal" and go on an adventure. So three years ago we sold the house, put the stuff we thought we couldn't live without into storage, and embarked on a year of travelling the world. We wanted to find interesting places, learn a bit about them . . . and meet the people who lived there, hopefully making new friends in the process. We did all that and more. We used AirBnB exclusively throughout England, Scotland, Wales, Spain, Bali, New Zealand and Australia . . . and even booked into one in our hometown of North Vancouver when we had to return due to a family emergency. We are certified fans - it's the only way to travel. Our new friends and contacts around the world are a wonderful legacy and reminder of our year of travel.
We travelled lightly - a suitcase and a small backpack each. We like to do our own cooking whenever possible as restaurants get tiresome, as well as expensive. Ideally we wanted to live like the locals do. We love good conversation with our AirBnB hosts, and even better to share a glass of wine or a beer in the evening. Glen is an avid golfer, and Anne loves to play soccer, ski, knit, crochet and garden.
Upon our return to Canada, we purchased an RV and set off to discover North America. After a year of travelling across Canada and throughout the USA making new friends, and discovering wonderful new places along the way, we are finally ready to grow up and be adults again. To that end, we have purchased our dream home on Vancouver Island and what better way to enjoy it than to invite travellers to share our space and swap stories?
