Le logement

We LOVE our Asheville home and the surrounding mountains - and you will too. Our cozy cottage is a place you will remember... for all the right reasons. Privacy, privacy, privacy and nature - and only 3.1 miles to downtown! The private driveway and parking pad lead to the lower level cottage with an oversized covered deck facing tiered gardens for that wonderful al-fresco feeling. A great place to sit and enjoy the outdoors in all seasons while sipping that delicious glass of wine or beer!

Do you like taking a morning run or an easy stroll? Beaver Lake is a 4 minute walk downhill.... and it is beautiful! You can kayak, canoe, or paddle board on the lake (sorry, no swimming.) You can get downtown by car (or UBER/Lyft) in 7 minutes, to the Blue Ridge Parkway in 10, rent tubes or kayaks on the French Broad River just 8 minutes away, tour the Biltmore Estate - 15 minutes away, or stroll through the River Arts District - 12 minutes away. West Asheville is just a hop skip and a jump down the road. The Pisgah and Dupont Forests with their beautiful waterfalls and hiking trails are an easy drive.

We are located in an absolutely stunning area surrounded by the wonders of nature and glorious mountains, and yet you can be in the heart of everything in minutes. No matter the season - the Blue Ridge Parkway and the mountains will knock your socks off. Spring, when all is in bloom; Summer when the world is lush and green; Fall when the mountains are ablaze in reds, oranges, plum and golds; Winter when the crisp air and lightly falling snow make the world quiet and peaceful.

This full one bedroom English Walk-Out lower level cottage, built into a mountain slope, includes a bright and spacious living room with a comfy sofa, a large easy chair, a flat screen TV with cable, an electric fireplace w/heater, wifi, coffee table and end tables chock full of games, coloring books, cards and other entertainment items. The bedroom is large with a comfortable queen sized bed, a bunk bed (twin) for little ones if you are traveling as a family or group, 2 dressers and an armoire, an easy chair, plus crisp, new, 400 thread count Threshold linens for all. Oh, and did I mention books? Guests have access to a wide variety of reading material just in case you want an easy night. The kitchen is fully stocked with pots, pans, dishes, glass wear, utensils, stove, refrigerator, microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker, sink, spices, cooking oils, bake pans and bake sheets. We provide coffee, teas, hot cocoa and cream to ease you into your morning wake up. The dining area is cozy, seats 4, and is a great place to enjoy a stay-at-home meal or work on your laptop. The full bath contains a single stall shower, and in case you forgot your favorite essentials, we provide shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hairdryer, and new, freshly laundered plush towels.

Please note our cottage has lower ceilings (7/5") with an overhang above the dining area and those who are over 6" might want to note the lower ceilings.

We are surrounded by nature and the beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains, but with nature comes... nature. No citified accommodations here. This is the mountains!

Because this is our home, we do have some rules: no parties, excessive drinking, drugs, pets or smoking, including e-cigarettes (other guests may have allergies and we want everyone to be comfortable). Smoking is permissible out on the deck and an ashtray is provided.

(If a guest should smoke in the property, a fee of $100 will be charged to the credit card used to reserve the property. Loss of a guest key will result in a $25 fee charged to the credit card used to reserve the property).

We provide a House Manual with tips on everything going on and available to in the region. So, whether you are here to shop, dine at our wonderful restaurants, check out the artists studios, enjoy the night life and music, take in some theatre, discover Asheville's wonderful craft breweries, go hiking or biking in the mountains, go on a waterfall tour, kayak or tube the French Broad River, tour the Biltmore Estate, or just sit back and relax, we have the guides to it all. We'll let you in on some secret spots!

Accès des voyageurs

Come down the private driveway and park in the private parking pad. Enter the lower level cottage from the large private deck overlooking the tiered gardens. The lower deck is huge and the private rear gardens are yours to enjoy. Viva outdoors!

Échanges avec les voyageurs

We will be here to greet you and answer your questions if you are so inclined, but if you prefer privacy, we understand. However, if you want to meet us or spend time with us, we are easy to find. This is YOUR trip, so you decide how much or how little interaction works for you.

Le quartier

The upscale neighborhood at Beaver Lake is simply gorgeous. We are surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains (Blue Ridge Parkway!), lovely homes, nature and gardens, privacy, and beautiful Beaver Lake which has a running/walking path all the way around it. The Bird Sanctuary is a short walk away. It is 4 minutes downhill to the lake and 6-7 minutes (3.1 miles) by car to downtown Asheville!

There is a bus stop on Lakeshore drive - the bus goes directly downtown. Car, biking and walking are the best way to get around. And yes, UBER and LYFT are here in Asheville, and downtown weekend parking is scarce, so these taxi services are a godsend.

Autres remarques

There is wifi, cable television, lots of DVD's and lots of books. But hey, you can watch television at home. Here, you are in paradise and you should get out and about and enjoy!!!

This cottage is extremely charming. It's exactly as Ellen describes, even cuter in person. The setting is very picturesque: close to Beaver lake, surrounded by tons of nature. The cottage is everything you want for a stay: super clean, use of toiletries, a full kitchen, quiet, and its location is perfect. Ellen is also a wonderful host. She's extremely communicative and responds quickly, as well as making sure your stay is everything you want. I couldn't imagine a better stay in Asheville.

Very clean n cozy, beautiful views. Ellen was a great host. We stayed in early spring while it was still a little cold, i can only imagine how great it would be in the summer.

Ellen's cottage is a delight. It has everything you need, is clean and comfortable, and in a great location. We were welcomed from a long day of house hunting with a welcome basket of wine and snacks. There is a GREAT book of restaurant recommendations and things to that she has taken the time to put together. The towels she left us looked brand new and were soft and fluffy. We only wish we had more time to relax and enjoy the cottage and visit with Ellen and her husband. This is a wonderful place to stay for a weekend or a week and explore!

This was our first trip to Asheville and we had a great time! Ellen and George gave us lots of great recommendations for things to do and places to eat. There is a lake a short walk down from the house that our kids really enjoyed and downtown is only a few miles drive.

Ellen is a great host! She has a book prepared with ideas and suggestions for things to see and do in the area. We were pleased! Definitely do the LaZoom tour and eat at both Biscuit Head and DOC Chey's Noodle House. It was chilly during our visit, so we didn't spend much time on the fabulous porch, but it was lovely inside as well. The wifi is faster than we have at home and the bed was comfy and everything was clean. Everything you need is there. It's about ten minutes by car to downtown shopping and food. We'd be happy to stay there again.
