Sonya's apartment is totally fine for a short-term stay, and Sonya herself was very cordial over messages through Airbnb. However, upon arrival, I asked Lucy, her daughter who checked me in and managed my stay, if I could have an extra set of sheets (there was only one in the apa…

There is always one bad apple in the bunch and I guess this guest was ours. We have been so incredibly blessed with fabulous guest and well, I guess we were due to get one which as not so great. Besides the toilet incident Nina left our freshly painted white walls with drawn marks throughout the bedroom. a wall heater pulled away from the wall where her child climbed onto it, our chrome kitchen trash can lid bashed-in and smashed, all of the decorative cushions sticky and spotted with food and the bottom sheet for the bed so stained we had to throw it out. 5 days after moving in Nina called us to say she had flushed something down the toilet that she should not have. There is a list on the welcome booklet and also a framed plaque above the toilet with a list of unsuitable things to not flush down the toilet and Nina admitted to flushing an item on the list anyways. Being August, our regular plumber was away on holiday so we gave her another contact we managed to find through someone else. Nina was well aware that the cost of unblocking the toilet would be hers and did not have a problem with that. My daughter lives in town and was on the phone with Nina all that day and told Nina to call her if she had any questions or concerns or needed her to translate. Nina did not call during the plumber's visit but texted us the next day saying that she wanted to reimbursed the cost of the plumber as it was a child's toy that was stuck and not the diaper wadding that had caused it as she thought. When we explained to her that she was our first visitor with a child to stay in our home she changed her story and said that the item must be something else. looking at the item it admittedly looks like a part of a wheel of a toy truck. Nina did not get a receipt and wanted us to refund her the cost anyways. She felt she had paid too much and although she did not bother to call us to ask before paying she wanted to be refunded anyways. Nina decided to make a complaint at the police and asked my daughter to go with her husband to do that. My daughter Lucy spend half on her weekend helping Nina's husband make the complaint for what they felt was an over-charge. Although none of this was our fault in hopes of calming Nina's feathers I offered her to stay a week longer free of charge. Instead they requested a free weekend of their choosing and I agreed. Nina was still not happy after that agreement and still wrote to me after her stay with an additional request to be reimbursed the cost of the plumber as well. Threatening that she would leave me a bad review on my place if I did not agree. So that is what she has given us. God bless Air B n B!
