Companies graduating from the program — which was founded in 1989 as a not-for-profit unit of the IC2 Institute at theUniversity of Texas — include FireFly LED Lighting, Famigo, Unwired Nation, Nitero and .
Originally, the incubator provided startups with affordable office space and assistance with accounting and legal issues. Now, the program focuses on information technology, wireless, clean energy and bioscience.

All you entrepreneur junkies — those who can’t get enough of business plan and fast pitch contests, maybe you even watch “Shark Tank” — will be in luck next week.
The Rice Alliance and RISE Global are collaborating to present a fast pitch competition featuring 10 companies and several distinguished judges and panelists from 6-8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Alamo Drafthouse on South Lamar Boulevard. Click here for a map.
The finalists are Affintus, Airstone Media, EvoTrain, Pink Kisses, Putting Golf Box, Sidus Link, Smokin Ace, Swaim, Widly One and ZING Water.
Entrepreneur aficionados are invited to watch and learn from these 10 entrepreneurs, who will pitch their early-stage businesses to a panel of venture capitalists and angels.
The night will also include a panel discussion about “How to Make the Most of Austin’s Entrepreneur Scene for Your Startup.”
Judges include Mike Dodd, partner at Austin Ventures; Jamie Rhodes, founder of the Central Texas Angel Network; Gary Hoover, founder of Hoovers Inc.; and Gary Forni of CTAN.
Panelists include Tim League, founder of Alamo Drafthouse Cinema LLC; Steve Barcik, founder of Firefly LED; Dale Misczynski, founder of Monebo; and Bijoy Goswami, founder of Bootstrap Austin.
Click here to register. Registration is free — although no-shows will be charged — and will be first-come-first-served.
