Our family's little cottage offers an affordable escape from the city for one or two families. Located about 2 hours from GTA, you can swim or fish on the rock bottom river, BBQ on the deck, or play on the front lawn. Trent Lakes System is minutes away. If you have a boat there is boat lunch 5 min down the road to hundreds of miles of lake water.
With in 15 min drive there is a sandy beach with shallow water and bicycles trails. Shopping is close by with in 10 min drive in Bobcaygeon

Le logement

The place has a full size fridge and stove and an open space kitchen. There is a TV and a DVD player. There is also a Bell dish installed so you can bring your own Bell receiver.
The water is pulled from the river and it is filtered and UV treated but still has a little bit of color. The water is very rich in iron so you may notice brown spots on the tub. While we consider the water safe, we recommend to bring bottled water for drinking and cooking.
Being close to the water, there is mosquito activity during dusk or dawn, so we recommend to bring some insect repellent.
Please bring your own linens, towels, blankets, pillows and personal hygiene items.

Accès des voyageurs

Guests have access to the whole cottage except the utility room where the water pump and the water heater are. The room is also used as a small storage space.

Autres remarques

There is a surveillance system by the front door. There is an alarm system but during the summer is not activated. During some summer storms the power may go down.
For outdated GPS systems please use 1735 Kennedy drive, Galway-Cavendish and Harvey as your city input to get to the right Kennedy drive.

We had a wonderful stay at Catalin's cottage. The place was just as described. Very basic, but clean and roomy enough for 6 people. The kitchen had all the necessities. The water in the taps was a bit brownish, but it did not smell at all, so we did not have any troubles taking showers/cleaning dishes. We enjoyed the firepit in the back (right by the river) and gazebo next to the house. We managed to catch some fish too! Overall, it's a great place that I would easily recommend to my friends.

We were a group of seven friends staying two nights and had a wonderful time. Cottage itself is very spacious, only about 2 hrs from Toronto, two fire pits, and very well-stocked kitchen. There were bugs but no more than the 3 other cottages I've been to in the Kawarthas; bring bug spray and you're fine. Only very minor complaint is the lack of a dock/proper entrance into the river, although the neighbour was very friendly and let us use his stairway. Overall an excellent value for a very inexpensive price.

This was a family friendly area in close proximity to the great sights found in the Kawarthas. Kids had fun in the river as well. Bring your mosquito repellent. With all the lakes of the Kawarthas and the mostly still river, they are abundant. We did enjoy the fire pit and played in the front. Overall great value.

Nice clean cottage, plenty of room for us inside. The sandy beach was worth the drive. A small dock or step into the river would have been nice as we brought kyaks, so it was a bit awkward getting in. Very good communication with host. He was fine with a later check out on Sunday. Overall, very pleased.

Thank you Susanne! I actually tried to build a dock a couple of years back, but the water level goes up and down as much as 5 feet between spring and summer and it was dangerous when the water level is low, so I dismantled it. I will think of a better solution for the next summer, maybe a floating dock.

Catalin's cottage was well equip with all the necessary supplies one would need to stay (from the kitchen to the washroom). The front yard was huge and there was lots of tree branches to use in the fire pit. The backyard over looking the river was beautiful and peaceful. We even caught a few rainbow trout for dinner. The only down fall was the mosquitos at night (bring tons of bug spray and mosquito coils).
