Venez dans une ferme urbaine dans un cadre sauvage! C'est Detroit à son meilleur!

Come camp on an urban farm in a wilderness setting! This is Detroit at its finest!

Everything makes our space unique! We have a little urban farm in the city of Detroit. When we moved here the house had been abandoned for 10 years. We have been rebuilding it with our own hands for almost 2 years now.
We've done pretty well if I do say so myself.
We have a baby, a dog, two cats and all sorts of wildlife. We are a certified wildlife sanctuary.
You are welcome to use all of the house amenities (bathroom, kitchen, wifi, etc) we also rent out our guest room.
In season we have locally grown foods and eggs! We also make soap, wild craft, spin yarn and other primitively arts.

Not exactly what we were expecting. The description was a little vague, thought there would be more room. You will really need to use the tent they provide, good thing we didn't bring our own because it would not fit. It is right in the middle of town and we could hear the neighbors yelling at their kids to stay out of the trees.

Cute little nook in the backyard for the tent added to the feeling of safety and privacy.

We had a little broken foot incident and had to cut our trip short, so we didn't actually sleep here. However, Sky and David's back yard is really cool! A nice fire pit, a relaxing little pond, and very friendly hosts. Great place is you are looking for something quiet but still very close to the city.

I felt so lucky for the WHOLE time I stayed. Everything about this place felt good - the people, the energy, the experience of tenting in a lovely and peaceful suburb of Detroit, surround by nature and city. I was fortunate to arrive and experience an amazing family and friends dinner with Sky and her partner David to celebrate Shabbat, have a campfire, sleep outside in the tent under the stars and an open-topped sukkah - a traditional structure made of wood, explore the nearby fields and river, and do a tour of the garden and farm areas. I felt so impressed and comforted by what Sky and her family have created and are creating in their lives and the lives of others - warmth, justice, connection to Earth, friendship, awareness, love and caring for their friends, neighbors, family, homes, and city. Such a great experience and I hope to be back soon. Thank you for what you do!! Namaste.

We loved our stay here! Sky and David have an awesome home. We definitely didn't feel like we were in the city. They were both also very helpful and kind during our stay.

We run this place here called Kibbutz Detropia. We are a non-profit focused on urban farming, food justice, education, and all through a Jewish lens.
We host weekly open Shabbat dinners for anyone who wants to come. If you're staying with us on a Friday, you are more than welcome to stay with us for dinner.
We grow food on most of our land and are currently expanding. We are working to turn a four acre field across the street into a free food forest. So far we have planted 5 fruit trees and installed 4 raised garden beds.
Sky has a background in law and currently works at an Elder Law Firm during the day. She also teaches Monday Night School to High School students at a Synagogue in Troy. David teaches art, and dance.
Avi has mastered walking, is on to running and babbling seemingly nonsense, that we are pretty sure isn't nonsense at all, but rather a very complex code he has devised.
Stitch is greying and spends most of his days napping, whereas Lev is frightfully alive and full of play at all times.
Huldah and Khalessi make an appearance inside when food or warmth is offered, aside from that the two of them are out hunting birds and mice.
We all hope to meet you soon.
