Vrahakia is a cosy little house with a rocky garden and a spectacular seaview situated just 5 meters from a peaceful, sandy beach in the picturesque marina of Galatas, only 5 kilometers from Chania city centre and the old Venetian harbour. There is a bus stop just 20 meters away with 24 hours bus service to the city of Chania or to the popular tourist resort of Platanias with the vibrant night life.
My grandfather owned the whole building from 1920. He used one of the two floors to own an inn from 1950 until 1980. At that time his inn was one of the best of the city mostly known for his straight-out-of-the sea fish. The locals called him Vrahakias from the greek word βράχος (vrahos) that mean sea rock. For many years he was guard of the marina and he would help the local fisherman that had their boats there with everything they needed as he was a fisherman himself. This is a small summary of the great history behind this place and my grandfather who created it. I renovated the whole building 4 years ago with respect to his traditional style. The apartment I am offering was renovated again this winter. I tried to combine a modern apartment with Cretan coastal touch that will suit the Marina.
