Joshua Tree Sage House is located a mile from the west entrance of Joshua Tree National Park. The 2.5 acre property has 360 degree views with gorgeous sunrises, sunsets and moonrises over the mountains. Dirt roads and no streetlights make the night skies very dark — perfect for epic star gazing. This home has a fully functional kitchen and is the perfect retreat!
Located in Monument Manor area of Joshua Tree, this house is perfect for anyone wanting the serenity of the desert. There is a tranquil feeling the minute you go through the gate with expansive views in every direction. As you drive up the hill and get closer to the park's West Entrance, the temperature is a bit cooler because of the higher elevation at 3300 feet. The house once belonged to artist Ed Moses. It has since been modernized with landscaping, an updated kitchen and glass sliding doors.
The two bedrooms each have new high-end memory foam mattresses (one is a King, the other is a Queen). There is also a pull out couch available in the main living area. The kitchen is fully-equipped with a refrigerator, stove/oven, dishwasher and microwave as well as cooking utensils, pots, pans, cooking oil, some spices, condiments, coffee and tea. We supply either Peet's or Joshua Tree Roasting Company coffee. There is a good size table and a Weber BBQ outside as well as a table in the kitchen area. Joshua Tree water is fine for drinking but there is also a Brita pitcher in the refrigerator. We recommend stocking up on groceries (and firewood if you want) in Yucca Valley, 7 miles to the west.
Spend your days hiking or rock climbing in the park or explore the shops and restaurants of Joshua Tree (Crossroads Cafe, Natural Sisters, JT Saloon, Pie for the People). You can purchase a park pass at The Visitor Center or at the park entrance so you can exit and return multiple times.
We love children and have a variety of games, toys and books and DVDs. There is a DVD player and a small library of movies.
Although we love dogs, we are very cautious about allowing them on the property due to the fragile desert landscape. There are resident jack rabbits, quail, ad other animals who are out feeding during the cooler morning and evening hours. PLEASE ASK BEFORE BOOKING if you would like to bring your pet: An ADDITIONAL $20/day PET FEE will be required.
There is internet but cell phone service is spotty (AT&T being the most reliable).
Visit the Farmers Market in town on Saturday mornings. Shop for antiques in Old Town Yucca Valley. Check out the live music and BBQ at Pappy and Harriets, or visit the Integratron or Noah Purifoy 's Outdoor Museum. There is also the Salton Sea and Salvation Mountain for a longer day trip. Or just stay at home, read a book from the library or listen to our collection of vintage albums.
July and August can be very hot months and winter months can be cold. Elevation is 3200 feet so it is 10+ cooler than Palm Springs. March and April are usually when the desert flowers bloom. The fall has the most magical sunrises and sunsets.
