Joshua Tree Sage House is located a mile from the west entrance of Joshua Tree National Park. The 2.5 acre property has 360 degree views with gorgeous sunrises, sunsets and moonrises over the mountains. Dirt roads and no streetlights make the night skies very dark — perfect for epic star gazing. This home has a fully functional kitchen and is the perfect retreat!

Le logement

Located in Monument Manor area of Joshua Tree, this house is perfect for anyone wanting the serenity of the desert. There is a tranquil feeling the minute you go through the gate with expansive views in every direction. As you drive up the hill and get closer to the park's West Entrance, the temperature is a bit cooler because of the higher elevation at 3300 feet. The house once belonged to artist Ed Moses. It has since been modernized with landscaping, an updated kitchen and glass sliding doors.

The two bedrooms each have new high-end memory foam mattresses (one is a King, the other is a Queen). There is also a pull out couch available in the main living area. The kitchen is fully-equipped with a refrigerator, stove/oven, dishwasher and microwave as well as cooking utensils, pots, pans, cooking oil, some spices, condiments, coffee and tea. We supply either Peet's or Joshua Tree Roasting Company coffee. There is a good size table and a Weber BBQ outside as well as a table in the kitchen area. Joshua Tree water is fine for drinking but there is also a Brita pitcher in the refrigerator. We recommend stocking up on groceries (and firewood if you want) in Yucca Valley, 7 miles to the west.

Spend your days hiking or rock climbing in the park or explore the shops and restaurants of Joshua Tree (Crossroads Cafe, Natural Sisters, JT Saloon, Pie for the People). You can purchase a park pass at The Visitor Center or at the park entrance so you can exit and return multiple times.

We love children and have a variety of games, toys and books and DVDs. There is a DVD player and a small library of movies.

Although we love dogs, we are very cautious about allowing them on the property due to the fragile desert landscape. There are resident jack rabbits, quail, ad other animals who are out feeding during the cooler morning and evening hours. PLEASE ASK BEFORE BOOKING if you would like to bring your pet: An ADDITIONAL $20/day PET FEE will be required.

There is internet but cell phone service is spotty (AT&T being the most reliable).

Visit the Farmers Market in town on Saturday mornings. Shop for antiques in Old Town Yucca Valley. Check out the live music and BBQ at Pappy and Harriets, or visit the Integratron or Noah Purifoy 's Outdoor Museum. There is also the Salton Sea and Salvation Mountain for a longer day trip. Or just stay at home, read a book from the library or listen to our collection of vintage albums.

July and August can be very hot months and winter months can be cold. Elevation is 3200 feet so it is 10+ cooler than Palm Springs. March and April are usually when the desert flowers bloom. The fall has the most magical sunrises and sunsets.

This was my second time stay at the Sage house for Desert Daze. I chose this place again because it feels like home to me but out in complete silence. I love just sitting out in the backyard and just taking it all in. It’s absolutely perfect get away after listening to music all day. I’ve stayed at other places and this one is my favorite and I’ll continually stay here every year. Even though I haven’t met Diane; I can tell she is a very nice lady. Great with directions and communication. Thank you Diane for letting us stay at your place and I can’t wait to stay there again next year.

Diane's place is beautiful. We stayed here for labor day weekend, and we had so much fun. The house is well decorated and her books and vinyl records are unique. The views are amazing from her backyard. We watched the sunrise, sunset and the stars at night, it was incredibly beautiful and relaxing! We will definitely be coming back!! Thanks Diane

What a perfect base this was for our summer visit to JT National Park. Sage house was well equipped with everything you need to create your own home away from home. Despite the heat wave that we experienced during our stay, the house stayed cool during the days even without the aid of A/C. The neighbourhood is deathly quiet with only your thoughts and the night stars for company. The position of the house is less than mile from the park entrance and only a five minutes drive into JT township. Diane was the most attentive and responsive host to us. We asked her soooo many questions and she patiently responded to all and even extended herself beyond the call of duty to recommend some other local tips that turned out to be some of the highlights of our week long stay. Without a doubt one of the most hospitable Airbnb hosts we've encountered - and all this without ever meeting her! Thank you Diane for allowing us to use your gorgeous home. I cannot recommend this place enough.

I stayed at Diane's with my husband and two friends, and it was the perfect home base for exploring Joshua Tree. The house itself was great - really cute inside and with everything we needed to have a great weekend. We especially appreciated the fire pit and barbecue in the back! The location was perfect - very close to the park entrance but also well located for shops & restaurants in Yucca Valley and Joshua Tree.

Love your suggestion about cast iron wall mounted bottle opener. Did you notice that there is a bull dog opener not yet mounted in the hutch? We will do it! I am glad you enjoyed your visit!

We had a great time at Sage House. It is beautifully positioned, and spacious with all the house amenities we needed. We loved playing vinyl, and sitting round the fire. There was lots for our curios great niece to explore, inside and outside.

Starry nights. Quiet Days. Coyotes, quail, jack rabbits. Hiking. Art. Music. The people in Joshua Tree. These are the reasons that I fell in love with Joshua Tree. I hope you will enjoy it too.
