I am happy to suggest the best restaurants and nightlife in the city as well and museums and tourist spots. I can also offer suggestion for hidden gems all around the city for adventurous guests who want to explore off the beaten path.

Le quartier

One of Philadelphia’s most beautiful best-kept secrets, lovely, leafy Powelton Village is characterized by its unmistakable mix of stately houses and quirky, colorful businesses.

In fact, the area features so many incredibly preserved examples of movements in Victorian architecture that its designed historic district, plus a number of individual residences, are protected by the National Register of Historic Places.

The neighborhood possesses a spirit all its own, a personality bolstered by its friendly and widely diverse population. The area’s most enduring touchstones include its dedication to political activism and its healthy population of creatives, both new and old. Prolific artists’ groups and dance companies were drawn to the area thanks to the availability of former industrial spaces along Lancaster Avenue, one of the last thoroughfares in America to feature a fully operational streetcar system.

Charming cafes, eateries, and convenience stores are a stroll away as you pass historic homes and Drexel University's beautiful campus. Outside of the neighborhood you will find the Zoo, Museum of Art, Mutter Museum, Barnes Foundation, Rodin Museum, Eastern State Penitentiary, Please Touch Museum, The Franklin Institute, and the Penn Museum just to name a few.

The home is located in close proximity to 30th Street Station, Megabus, BoltBus and NJ Transit lines. It is easily accessible via trolley, subway (Market-Frankford Blue line) and public transportation. There is also a bike share available for those who like to pedal around the city. The area is extremely safe and walk-able, with Drexel University's blue light alert on most corners and 24 hour security patrol. You will get a peaceful and refreshing nights sleep while in the busy city.

Nice and cozy room. The neighborhood is pretty quite with many parking. We didn't have much problem with the shared bathroom but I can imagine during high season there might be some waiting. Definitely a good place for a get away trip.

I had a very good time staying there, and will definitely book again if/when I need lodging in Philly. The Room: - The Zen Experience room is cute, spotlessly clean, and very comfortable. It has a table for 2, a sofa with footrest, microwave, mini-fridge, and plenty of spaces to store cloths. - I loved the view to a quiet street. - **Tips** For early risers: you would love the beautiful morning sun filtering through the windows. For night owls, book one of the other rooms not facing East, or bring eye-coverings. - The bed is comfortable. I love that blanket, and the fact that there was no feather in any of the bedding. - ** There are extra pillows in the drawers. - ** The second door in the room is not a closet, it opens to a different guest room. Now stop trying to open it and wake your neighbour up. - ** The keyhole between those rooms are see-through, you might want to cover it with a bandage or something since that keyhole looks directly at the bed... The House: - The house is 10-15 minute walk to university campus. - The shared space is very clean as well, even though the restroom is shared with 3-4 other rooms. - It is a very cute older home, everything creaks a little. But that's part of the charm. It is well maintained and obviously beloved. - The check-in check-out process is very simple and no fuss. The People: - The host is super responsive and accommodating. - The housekeeper is very kind and competent. ** Tip her **. - The wall is a little thin, but as I said, the host is very good at quick responses, and would address noise issues promptly. ** Other Tips **: - Bring facial tissues. - Contact the host if you encounter problems, he actually means it when he said you can contact him if there is anything you need help with. - The laundry room is on the top floor, to the right of the bathroom, and unlabelled. It has small things you might need, and you are allowed to borrow things from there. There were extension cords (I lugged mine from California...), drinking glasses, water jugs with filters, scissors, wine openers, disposable eating utensils, paper plates, etc. Alas, no facial tissues.

Hello everyone! Thanks for visiting. I have lived in Philadelphia for over 10 years and really love the city. I work as a social worker and am into travel, fitness, art and music. I'm currently working towards completing my Masters and looking forward to a Doctorate program. I am very easy going and love meeting people. I also enjoy sharing my knowledge of Philadelphia with others and hosting guests who are visiting. I'm a great tour guide and can always make recommendations of where to go and what to do during your stay. I look forward to meeting you!
