À propos de ce logement

York Farm is a working organic fruit farm located just a few miles from downtown Hutchinson. You’ll love my place because of the farm experience - the farm pond, the locally grown organic meals, wind turbine, beehives, farm pond and renovated buildings with nice wood.

Our farm pond was man-made by a backhoe and is buffered on all sides by native prairie grasses. Because it is so sheltered from runoff the water is very clear.

Description

York Farm is a working organic fruit farm located just a few miles from downtown Hutchinson. You’ll love my place because of the farm experience - the farm pond, the locally grown organic meals, wind turbine, beehives, farm pond and renovated buildings with nice wood.

Our farm pond was man-made by a backhoe and is buffered on all sides by native prairie grasses. Because it is so sheltered from runoff the water is very clear.

We specialize in growing organic strawberries, currants, gooseberries, pears, apples, and table grapes. We also grow a variety of herbs (six kinds of mint!), and vegetables in our hoop house (plastic growing structure similar to a green house).

We have a summer kitchen that is newly renovated and attached to our barn that you are welcome to use.

Our renovated barn is an event rental space. We host events of all kinds - weddings, brunches, graduation parties, birthday parties, grooms dinners, showers, you name it. It is also a nice space to run around in or put up a projector and sheet to screen a film in.

Our compost toilet facility has lights with a working sink, composting toilet, shower and changing area with a beautiful view of our tree nursery and fields. This building is a short walk from the Well House. We provide you with a lantern and headlamp to help you navigate to the building at night.

The pool in our listing is actually our farm pond. Our farm pond was man-made by a backhoe and is buffered on all sides by native prairie grasses. One side is 18 feet deep, the other is 5 feet deep. You can take a lap around the pond to cool off, or hang out on the bridge and enjoy the cottonwood trees. Because it is so sheltered from runoff the water is very clear. We haven't put fish in it, but there are minnows that have come in, we think they were transferred to our pond as fish eggs on birds wings.

You are welcome to use all of the spaces on the farm. The barn, outhouse building, summer kitchen, farm pond, walk through our fields on the inside or outside of our fence. We have 85 acres to walk around on.

We are a working fruit farm, but love to give farm tours and help make people comfortable while they stay here. As our guest(s) you will receive a farm tour.

I love to cook and if you stay with us over a meal time you will be welcome to eat with us. I am very comfortable cooking for people with food allergies. We eat mostly organic food and source the food as locally as possible. Most of it comes from our farm.

Hutchinson has many parks for the young and old. It is a lively city with a summer time music festival called River Song, a Pottery Festival held at Clay Coyote, Music in the Park most Monday nights in the summer and a Center for the Arts with various guest artists and activities.

There is a lot of space to park at the farm. There is also a bus that takes travelers form the Twin Cities to a local Gas Station. We would be happy to help you with local (20 mile radius) transportation needs.

We have a wind turbine, several bee hives, one dog named Goût (pronounced Gu) who is friendly, and a young daughter.
