My husband and I decided to travel to Panama for my Birthday. We wanted to explore the country a bit, so we split our trip between San Blas and Bocas Del Toro. We researched several boats and decided we definitely wanted to stay on a catamaran. There were several options, and we had a hard time deciding until I saw the Ipanema blog - ((URL HIDDEN) I was so intrigued by the couples story, their dog and that beautiful colorful sail. We are so happy we chose to stay with them. Once we got there we realized many of the boats are not as pictured online. We stayed in Panama City the night prior - I highly recommend Casco Viejo. The next morning we were picked up by the driver. Although the drive is paved, it is a bit of a roller coaster getting there. Take the front seat if available. You will cross the Guna Yala border, and take a water taxi. We boarded the water taxi with other people that were going to a little retreat on Chichime, which is also where the charter boats are anchored. This is where it gets good. My husband and I saw all of the other boats and there was Ipanema! We could not believe how gorgeous it was! We dropped the rest of the passengers off at the rustic huts on the island and then we were taxied over to what was clearly the nicest boat there! Renato, Sarah, and FEIJAO stepped out to give us the most warm welcome. The bed was comfortable and plenty big, the boat (let's just call it a moving house) was meticulously clean, and everything about our stay was perfect! We snorkeled, saw dolphins, "tried" the Megalodon SUP, Chef Sarah made crazy amounts of delicious food, saw the most remote islands of the Caribbean, and most importantly made life long friends. I honestly cannot say enough about our visit with them accept it was far too short. Once we arrived in Bocas we wished we would have booked the entire vacation on the boat. Thanks Renato, Sarah and Feijao for opening up your home to us! Can't wait for our next adventure! - Raina & Jason

We are a couple from Brazil who decided to kick up everything, quit our jobs, buy a boat and sail the world!

Shortly after purchasing our Lagoon 44 foot catamaran in late 2014 we both quit our jobs (Renato was a strategy consultant and Sarah worked in PR in the Hospitality Industry). Six months after buying the boat we set sail, leaving everything we knew behind - except for our dog “Feijão” (which in english means Beans), a clumsy yet adorable Bull Terrier who is super social and loves meeting new people.

We started in Croatia where we bought the boat and so far have covered over 10,000 nautical miles visiting 28 countries and islands in the Mediterranean and the Caribbean, where we are right now, sailing around the stunning San Blas islands of Panamá.

Since the start of our trip we have already welcomed over 100 guests and we discovered a real passion for hosting and meeting new people.
