Description

This is a private bedroom suitable for one person on the third floor of a newly renovated, walk-up brownstone with high ceilings and original brick work in Crown Heights. It's on a residential street just minutes from the subway (3 line), Prospect Park and the Brooklyn Museum.

It's a private bedroom in a two-bedroom flat in a newly renovated brownstone in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. The bedroom has a single bed (sleeps only one person), a desk and a large dresser as well as a coat rack to hang items as there's no closet.

You'll share the living room/kitchen/bathroom with me. I have all the kitchen cooking essentials as well as shampoo, soap, etc in the bathroom. The living room has a TV with an Apple TV and a Roku with hundreds of streaming movie and TV options to watch from my personal digital library.

The bedrooms are on opposite ends of the apartment, so you'll have a decent amount of privacy. There is laundry in the basement (coin-operated, $2.25 per wash load and $1.75 per dryer load) and room to store a bike there if you wish (but bring your own locks).

There's also a rooftop space -- although it isn't finished or fancy, it's a place where you can go if you need to smoke or just want to step out to get fresh air.

All parts of the apartment except for my bedroom -- kitchen, living room, bathroom, rooftop, laundry in the basement if you need it.

My interaction with you really just depends on when you stay, what you're looking for and what's going on in the news that week (I'm a journalist so my schedule depends on the news). I usually am away at work during the day and often am home late due to other duties and activities, but am happy to chat and impart any NYC wisdom that I can if you're looking for that.

Crown Heights is an up and coming neighborhood in Brooklyn, with new restaurants and shops opening up seemly every week. It's just a few blocks from the Brooklyn Museum and Prospect Park. There's a grocery store just around the corner and nearby are a bagel shop, a bar, several restaurants, a hair salon and more.

I am about 30 minutes by subway to Lower Manhattan (45 minutes to Midtown). It's about 30-45 minutes from JFK airport by taxi.

The flat is less than 5 minutes from the 3 train at Nostrand Ave station. It's also about 10 minutes from the Franklin Ave station, where you can catch the 2/3, 4/5 trains, and about 15 minutes walking from the northern Nostrand Ave station, where the A/C lines run. The B45 bus picks up just down the block.

I provide coffee and tea for guests (though you'll need to brew it yourself). Also, please note the space is on the third floor of a brownstone, with no elevator, so it's not suitable if you have trouble climbing stairs (requires climbing two flights) or excessively heavy luggage that you can't carry up and down.

If you need an iron, please let me know in advance! I don't actually own one, but I can obtain if necessary.

Perfect stay at Britanny's home. Very good host. The bedroom is very comfortable and the bed too. Can use the kitchen, living room and bathroom as you want ! The neighborhood is good, laundry and supermarket at 2 minutes by walk. I recommend you if you have time in NYC coz need 45 minutes by subway to join Times Square but the line 3 is good to use.

No me sentí como en casa, simplemente una habitación para dormir. El barrio bien, no es la mejor zona de Brooklyn pero bien, metro cercano, bien comunicado, 20 minutos en metro al puente de Brooklyn, y en 30 minutos en Manhattan.

I Brittany was an excellent and accommodating host. Her place is clean, quite and during a July heatwave stayed comfortably cool while I was there. The Crown Heights neighborhood is super convenient to the 2,3,4,5,A and C trains which made getting to and from Manhattan, and parts of Brooklyn and Queens simple. The cafes, restaurants and bars offer a diverse mix of options. I would certainly recommend staying there.

Brittany was a very nice and helpful host. She always replied very quickly whenever I needed something and tried to help me however she could. Her apartment is very neat and cozy, everything is just like on the pictures. The neighborhood is maybe not the nicest or cleanest, but it is absolutely safe and lively during daytime (with tons of bars and restaurants around), and looks more or less fine during night as well. I would glady stay there should I visit New York again. Thanks for everything!

I had a fantastic stay at Brittany's room! The apartment has been recently renovated so it feels brand new. The room has a window to the back of the building so it's really quiet at night. Also the AC is silent so sleep is very peaceful which is not that common in NYC. The area has lot's of restaurants and cafes and subway and busses are close. Highly recommended!

I've been a host on Airbnb for several years while living in Asia and had great experiences, so when I moved back to the U.S., I thought I would try it out here too.

I grew up in the cornfields of Middle America. I've spent the past seven years working in Hong Kong and Beijing. I'm now back in New York, working as a journalist.

I love Chinese food, traveling and reading. My job is quite hectic and very unpredictable, so you might not see me around much when you stay, but I'm always available on phone or text, and I'm happy to help make arrangements or do whatever I can to make your visit a great one.
