Lochhournhead Farm B&B, although isolated, is close to the Cape Wrath trail with paths leading to Barisdale, Inverie, Arnisdale & Shiel Bridge. We are situated at the end of a 22 mile winding, single track road passing some of Scotland’s most stunning scenery and opening up with breath taking views at the head of Loch Hourn.
Please be aware we have NO mains electricity, mains water, wifi and little or no mobile phone signal! We are 2hrs 30mins from The Isle of Skye.
Please do not turn up with extra guests without a booking - we are very isolated and will not have the capacity for additional accommodation for them.
Do please also note that it takes about 2hrs 30mins. To drive to The Kyle of Lochalsh and the Isle. of Skye bridge.
For those staying with us at the B&B, dinner is usually served at 7.30 pm. This can be pre-booked when you make your reservation. However, we do understand how unpredictable things can be when hiking so regardless of what time you get here in the evening a delicious warming meal will be waiting for you.
Breakfast is available between 6.15 am to 9.00 am.
Packed lunches can also be pre-booked when you make your reservation. If you haven’t booked we will of course endeavour to provide either supper or packed lunch. As we are so isolated, and can’t just pop round to the corner to the local shop, we know that you’ll understand that you may not get what others who have pre-booked receive.
Important Information ...
We have NO mains electricity, mains water or gas, no wifi and an unreliable and substandard phone line. The electricity generator does not run 24 hours a day.
All our hot water is heated by the Rayburn in the kitchen or by coal fires. Water comes straight from the surrounding hills and although it is filtered we would recommend drinking bottled water.
Please can you bring some suitable indoor footwear
Well behaved dogs are allowed, but not on any of the beds or furniture
We are at the end of a 22 mile single track which is not suitable for large vehicles with a low chassis. Sometimes the track is subject to flooding and road damage which can cut us off.
We do not allow smoking within the building
All meals are payable in cash please. We can also be contacted at The Farmhouse between late March and October by phone but please be aware that the phone line can be rather unreliable. Otherwise, please email us.
