The "some enchanted evening" cabin was so cozy and inviting. My husband and I spent five nights in it for our 25th wedding anniversary. The unique, woodframed bed was custom built. The bathroom was adorable with slate tile and a tub and shower. The chairs by the "fireplace" (know it's a faux fireplace but put off lots of heat and provided the right ambience) provided a nice place to sit. Our private hot tub, hidden from the drive and main house by a row of bushes, was used every evening after long hikes. The view of the moon over the trees from the hot tub was breathtaking. What makes this place so unique and special is Janice, the co-owner (we briefly met her husband who was equally friendly). She truly is one of the most gracious, loveliest people I've ever met. She immediately made us feel welcome and searched out some pretty wine goblets and sparkling cider to celebrate our anniversary. Her manner is so warm and inviting. I could rave on and on just about her, but want people to know how special the place is, too. The main lodge where Janice serves breakfast is a very short walk across the property. Our first morning walking over, we saw one of the horses watching Janice cook through the kitchen window. You won't see that in Gatlinburg. The main lodge has many equally lovely guest rooms with inviting spaces to tuck in with a book, or board games, or a chat with other travellers. I would have loved to stay in the lodge as well, but was happy to have a hot tub after logging miles hiking. As for breakfast, Janice cooked a delicious homemade, wholefood-based breakfast every morning we were there. We'd gather our food and coffee and head to the main room to eat. My husband and I felt so welcomed and comfortable. Motivation to leave every morning after breakfast came very slowly. We were so relaxed. Choosing a place to stay online is often so hard. You wonder if you really will get what is promised. I wanted this anniversary to be very special, and thanks in part to our cabin and the property, it truly was. If you want to be away from the crowds and glitz of Gatlinburg, this is a great place! When we drove through Gatlingurg coming home one evening and saw the mass of people and bright lights, I was grateful we choose Janice's place all over again. If you like unique, cozy, out-of-the-ordinary, I cannot recommend this place highly enough. If you like horses (and if you don't--don't worry. They keep their distance if you want) and dogs (the dogs were icing on the cake for me--but again, they'll keep their distance if you want), you must stay here. You won't find any other place as special as Janice's. If we get back to the area, we will only stay at Janice's. There's no need to look anywhere else.
