At approximately 750 feet above sea level, this adorable artist's cottage offers stunning views of the Caribbean Sea from the bedroom and kitchen's screened veranda. The elevation and the unique position combine to capture easterly trade winds unmatched by any other location. Feel free to message me about short stays even if the cottage appears booked in Jan. Please see (EMAIL HIDDEN)
We keep breakfast basics on hand, oatmeal, crackers, hummus spread, coffee, teas and juice. Brew a pot of just pickekd lemongrass tea - right from the yard. You can also pick our soursop leaves as a tonic tea to help you sleep. And it is reported the soursop tonic will target and kill cancer cells too.
Built in 2001, the cottage has a small "great room w kitchen," queen bedroom, bathroom, screened verandah, washer and dryer and a lovingly maintained yard.
You may find that despite all the fun places to go, when you get home, you may just want to enjoy being at the cottage. Cook some pasta, make a salad and enjoy a glass of wine or tea on the veranda. There is complementary wireless internet. The best part of Nevis Rainforest Mountain cottage is getting back to nature. Open the shutters on gorgeous days and the screens (if kept shut) will keep you bug free. Neighbors are close but the gardens afford you a pretty private space. The only creatures that may pay you a visit are a troupe of green vervet monkeys.
And, you are only a 12 minute drive from Pinney's Beach using the bypass, or 20 minutes to Oualie Beach.
At night, I shut the shutters and lock up for a cozy night's sleep. You'll be lulled by the tree frogs and the wind in the palms.
Everyone falls in love with the view, the temperature (rain or shine) and the visiting monkeys ~ and being in and communing with nature. It rains up here more than any place on island. So if its raining, it just may be sunny at the beach!

Home and gardens. Feel free to walk around the gardens and in the neighborhood. Expect to be met by stray goats, horses, cows, or pets. I advise against walking in the grass with bare feet. Nevis has fire ants with a healthy appetite. Remember we are on a mountain slope so shoes that afford you good footing are recommended when walking off the property. The neighborhood is on the volcanic slope so a car is recommended.
Once at the cottage, you can walk for 5 to 10 minutes to the main island road where busses run weekdays both west and east and are very affordable, about EC$3 - 5. They are erratic on weekends. Almost nonexistent on Sundays! Stand on the side of the road for which direction you want to go in. If you're heading to Charlestown, stand on the seaside of the road; if you're heading to Gingerland stand on the peak side of the road.

This is largely a self-serve cottage. Upon request we can suggest a car for hire, recommendations for a massage therapist, a local cook and cleaner and tour guide. When I am on island I am readily accessible to chat with, always accessible by text, "(SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN)," or email. And Marvin is usually available to help.
Eden Life Centre is a natural health care destination in the neighborhood. (URL HIDDEN)
The Hot Bath: Take the island main road to Charlestown - just on this side of town are the Bath Hot Springs. The hot sulphur soak is well worth the trip.

Mostly have fun, try to unplug and relax. Because of the topography, sound does travel easily on the slope. This is a quiet residential area with folks who work Monday through Friday.
Veteran award-winning news illustrator. I love promoting this stunningly gorgeous island federation of St. Kitts and Nevis. I arrived in Nevis in 1999 from Iowa and immediately fell in love with its beauty. As a permanent resident of Nevis - the climate, availability of fresh produce, and naturopathic care aligns with my goals to maintain a healthy body as a breast cancer thriver. One of nine siblings, one of my favorite childhood memories is all of us meeting family friend Jack Kennedy in the cabinet room in the White House when i was 8 years old. I like coffee, dark chocolate and rich mellow cabernet sauvignon!
I like to share my home with fellow travellers to make them feel at home.
I believe in treating everyone the way I would want to be treated. I love to learn how to make your stay most enjoyable. My friends from the village and I are excited to host you!
