Fat Ted Farm is close to country towns, such as, Toogoolawah, Kilcoy, Esk, Moore, Linville. Somerset and Wivenhoe Dams are close by & scenic drives are everywhere. You will love the outdoor spaces, the serenity, isolation and millions of stars. As this is a 50 acre farm and a place to getaway from it all and enjoy some peace and quiet there is no internet. Our house is over 100 years old, which we moved from Esk in 2008. Lots of French doors & fresh air which means no screens or mozie nets.
Here are a few tips and pointers you will need to know about Fat Ted Farm.
The farm is 50 acres and fully fenced. It extends beyond the hill behind the house. Should you wish to go bush walking we would recommend fully enclosed shoes with stocks, long pants/jeans, long sleeved shirt and hat. Don't forget to take water. You will see lots of wildlife such as, wallabies, tons of birds, including eagles, spiders, kangaroos, kookaburras, snakes, goannas, lizards, the most beautiful green frogs.....just keep your eyes peeled.
In the laundry we have our gum boots, long sleeved shirts and hats for such occasions. You are welcome to use this if you did not bring your own.
As we are on tank water we would appreciate it if you could take your laundry home and not use our washing machine.
The farm has 3 dams, please be aware of your children as these dams are not fenced and cannot be for live stock reasons.
If you can take your rubbish with you when you leave that would be great.
We have food and drinks in our fridge and kitchen, naturally these are not for your consumption. If you must consume anything please replace it before you leave. This also applies to items that you may break. We shall have to charge you for any broken items. Sorry to have to mention this but previous guests have consumed a lot of our alcohol and not replaced it and broken lots of kitchen items with no communication to us of this. We shall have to charge you for any broken items or consumed items that are not replaced. This does not apply to the bottled water or tea and coffee that we have provided for you and is included in your nightly rate.
Please note that we are on tank water, so use thoughtfully. The water is filtered, however, we recommend that you ONLY DRINK THE BOTTLED WATER WE HAVE SUPPLIED AS TANK WATER CAN UPSET SOME STOMACHS THAT ARE NOT USED TO IT.
Also, our sewerage system is biolytic which means, no sanitary items can go into the system please.
The hot water is supplied by bottled gas. You should not run out of gas, however, if this should happen there will be a full bottle on the verandah for you.
Please make yourself at home and note the position of the fire extinguisher, fire blanket, torch and first aid kit. Also, there is a torch in the pantry cupboard. Hospitals are at Esk and Kilcoy and there is a Medical Centre at Toogoolawah.
If you light a fire in the fire pit please do so with great care. As we are high on the hill wind can blow the embers with the potential of starting a fire. MAKE SURE THE FIRE IS FULLY EXTINGUISHED BEFORE YOU LEAVE IT UNATTENDED. Maybe run the hose on it to be safe.
Please feel free to use and play with, the kite, DVD's, cards, jigsaws, walkie talkies, balls, swings, hammocks, magazines, camp oven...etc.
The olive grove is part of our property and houses 2 horses. Should you wish to go into the grove please ensure the gates are closed at all times. Take care if wanting to approach the horses.
Fat Ted Farm is magical at sunset.
