The flat is a homely, comfortable mix of traditional and modern decor. It has a pleasant outlook onto the back garden, disguising the fact that you are actually in the middle of a large city. The rooms in the flat are of a good size and both bedrooms are doubles. There is an internal bathroom and a kitchen which also overlooks the garden. Most of the floors are wooden or tiled, apart from the bedrooms, which are both carpeted with wool carpets. The main bedroom has a really useful walk-in cupboard with more than enough room for storing luggage and clothes for all four guests. The front of the flat from both bedrooms looks out on the the street, which is generally very quiet at night time.

You will be able to access the whole flat for the duration of your trip. It is fully equipped with everything you will need for a convenient and comfortable stay in the city. The kitchen has all the facilities for you to prepare your own food from home if desired.

We would be more than happy to help you find your way around the city and to give you tips for great things to do while you are here. We like meeting new people! We will leave some festival brochures and information leaflets for you to look at.

Fountainbridge was historically an industrial, working class area of the city with dairies, breweries and railways nearby. Most local people worked in these industries during the earlier part of the 20th Century. The nearest brewery lay partially empty for a number of years in the 1990's and was demolished about 7 years ago. Since then the end of the street has been opened out and new housing has been built in the area, resulting in a mixture of traditional and new-build flats. This part of the city is populated by local people and workers (some of whom commute to Glasgow), with lots of tourist accommodation and student residences also cropping up more recently. It is surrounded by a number of excellent green spaces, and is close to many of Edinburgh's main attractions including the castle.

Most places are accessible on foot from the flat. The best route into the centre of the city is the bus number 22, which takes 3-5 minutes to get to Princes Street Gardens.

Our neighbours are a very friendly bunch and we are confident that you will feel welcome in our stair.

I have lived in Edinburgh for 25 years and have developed a real soft spot for this fantastic city. I work in the creative industries and have an office base at a well established arts and music venue near the Meadows. I no longer live in the flat that we are renting out on Aibnb, as I am now a family man and have moved out of the city centre to a new home by the sea, in the area affectionately known by locals as 'Porty' (Portobello). I loved living at the flat, not least because of it's great location near a number of pubs that sell craft beers (for example Thompson's on Morrison Street, which also does traditional pie and beans on a Friday for a fiver - maybe see you there)!

Some of my favourite things to do in Edinburgh include cycle runs along the canal and through the meadows, walks up Arthur's Seat, trips to the Gallery of Modern Art, attending sports events, outings to Porty beach, live music gigs, the occasional night out at the 'Wee Red Bar' at Edinburgh College of Art, and of course catching up with friends to enjoy the good weather when the sun decides to show its face. I also really enjoy getting out of the city to visit places including North Berwick, and I would recommend that you also consider doing this during your time in Edinburgh. I'd be more than happy to share tips and advice about how best to get around the city (and further afield) and some of the things that you might want to check out whilst here.
