We were particularly happy with the information and responsiveness that both the owner and the property manager provided. It was useful and accurate. I asked a lot of questions and those were promptly and happily answered. The property manager was a perfect host, very personable, explaining the amenities, safety and logistics of not only the house, but the area of Placencia. We rather enjoyed the location, a little away from downtown, but very close with anything we needed or wanted to do close. We had plenty of space. Also, we were surprised and pleased that bicycles and kayaks were available for our use. The beaches were nice and welcome. Thank you! I have no reservations recommending this beautiful house and host!
We had automobiles which, in our opinion, were superior to golf carts that some bloggers suggested. Placencia is a bit of a drive from the airport in Belize City, but the roads are great and, in particular, the Hummingbird Highway is incomparable in beauty. We had the opportunity to use the services of several scuba diving companies and all were professional and helpful.
We only had one week to stay, but because Kat Kasa is in a good location, besides diving, we were able to visit Tikal in Guatemala via a tour and also a cave float, both with (URL HIDDEN) We were able to spend a day at the Bocawina zip line which was great. We were able to drive out to the Xunantonich ruins in an afternoon and enjoy both the tour with a local guide, howler monkeys and a refreshing light shower. We drove over to Hopkins, had some time to spend with the Garifuna people, and had pizza at Driftwood Beach Bar and Pizza Shack. They bill themselves as the best pizza in Belize. I can’t say more than it was some of the best pizza I have had in a very long time. Plus, we had a chance to play some pick-up beach volleyball while we waited. What’s not to like?
We capped off every day, no matter how adventured-out we were, with a trip to the end of the peninsula to have a cup or cone of Italian gelato from Tutti Frutti Gelateria. The proprietor was very friendly and even made some gelato flavors for us on request.
All-in-all, Kat Kasa, its proprietor, its property manager and its location in Placencia made for a memorable and fun vacation. As much fun as anything, we had our very own family of geckos to entertain us in the evenings.
