Règlement intérieur

Please message when you arrive.

Quiet time is 10 PM-8 AM. Watching television or talking in common areas after 10 is acceptable, as long as it isn’t disturbing anyone who is trying to sleep. Only Microwave cooking is allowed after 10 PM.

Dishes are to be washed directly after eating-not an hour later, not the next morning. Dishes are placed into the dish rack. If there is no room in the dish rack, please put enough dishes away to fit yours, and then put yours in the dish rack. If my cleaning lady or I end up doing a walk through and washing your dishes or stove I will be asking for $5 for the service. I’ve only ever had 2 people ever get stuck with this, and they repeatedly left dishes in the sink.

Cigarette smoking is to be conducted in the outside of the house. You can use the back door and stand in the side walk way. If it is warmer, there will likely be chairs and an ashtray available in the back yard. Please collect your butts.

If your clothes require laundering, we can wash them for you for $3 a load. We will provide you with a bag for the laundry, which should be placed outside our bedroom door prior to 10 am. The bag of clean laundry will be placed back on your bed within 24 hours.

We no longer allow guests to wash their own laundry, as there have been many issues with their use.

We have security cameras in common areas.

No Shoes Inside. Clean flip flops are okay. We can provide house slippers.

Please close doors behind you, even if you are only going through for a moment, for the sake of the cats, and our heating bill. My prices are low and we need things like this done to keep them low. Thanks for your part =)

It is a great place for a few days of stay! Charlie was very helpful at check-in and helped me to move my suitcases. Many things are within walking distances. It only costs $5-$6 per uber ride to go to Downtown Evanston. I extended my stay for two extra days to save the hassle of having to move again.

Great stay with some very nice folks. Rob, Joe, and Alex are fantastic. Located very close to the red line easy to get around. Joe has a good system set up. Will stay again for future visits to Chicago.

Joe and Alex were friendly and ready to help. They were flexible and gave dinner place recommendations.

As soon as I entered Joe's place, I starting having bad feelings and almost left. I was rushed around by overly intense people. i just wanted to lay down and sleep but was forced to go through an extensive tour and rehashing of the rules. first morning had weird encounter with alex. i commented a running ttack across the street was nice and maybe I'd use, then she said oh youll get arrested, overdramatically. its a private school apparently, not a park or a school with public use hours during non school operations like many schools do. she shouodve just said i dont think you can use that. weird start of day. she then walked off after. just met her. that day smelled marijuana burning in the house. i asked joe and he said it wass legal in IL, which its not. That was just the start. I was scremed at by Joe for requesting enforcement of his own rule of quiet hours. he then threw my suitcasein the street. had my laptop in there. joe told me he makes more than me and told me his air bnb pancakes. he wears no shirt with pajama pants and plays video games in the common area. the room included a bossy guy named rob who Breathee so heavy i couldnt sleep. woke up with intermittant sleep. kitchen floor needs replacement wity cracked tiles, with hoe making asmuch as he claims he might want to invest in replacement. this isa manson farm like situation with weird over rules. they charge for little thing, treat you with disrepect then they offer pancakes and think their great hosts. i guess im lucky i didnt grt asked to drink coolaid.

Drew commented about going to the school to use the track during actual school hours. It is a primary through high school which means it would be an older male adult going to a private school's property during school hours with peoples children. Yes, we advised him he may get the police called on him. Yes, we "force" guests to go through a tour to make sure they understand where everything is, where the food for breakfast is, show the wifi password, and to explain house quirks. Yes, we are marijuana friendly. It is legal medicinally and has been decriminalized. If you get caught smoking outside, it's the same as a parking ticket. He's an attorney, this is easily found by googling. The screaming occurred only after I stood in my living room and was yelled at for several minutes. If you stay here, ask me to show you the camera video we have of the entire incident. We should have it until the camera rolls over the files in a few weeks. I have 3 other guests on site who can attest to what happened and notified Airbnb when they witnessed it. At no point did Drew ever "request" anything. He was hostile, argumentative, and downright mean. Then he slowly raised his voice until he was literally yelling at me. That's when I raised my voice and made it quite clear that I was not going to tolerate or continue this. When he started yelling some more I told him he needed to find a new place, went to his room, grabbed his shit, and placed it next to the curb outside. If you disrespect me in my own home and are going to be unreasonable, then I don't want you in it. We do not charge enough to deal with that level of drama. When I tried talking to you about your problem you said, and I quote "Look at yourself, you run around in pajamas, you call yourself a "contractor" and I don't make any money. So yes, I laughed at him and told him that he's' the one staying in a $10 dollar per night airbnb and I definitely make more money than him so I'm not sure why he's trying to judge me. I'm not going to apologize for this because he was being quite rude. I'm not better than anyone because I make more than him. It was only brought up because he was insulting me about it. I do wear PJ's and play video games in the common area with no shirt on from time to time. I'm not unruly or unkempt. I just get hot and go shirtless. In my house. On my couch. The reason Rob was "bossy" was because he ignored our tour and then kept doing things he shouldn't like taking a 90 minute bath watching netflix in a house that's described as a "communal living with shared amenities" and leaving his things in the bathroom, playing a movie without headphones after quiet hours, etc. We offer free ear plugs, and an ambient noise generator to anyone who asks. He laughed and scoffed at the idea that he should wear earplugs. The direct quote was "I dont wear fucking earplugs, are you kidding me?" We put in our ad that the rooms are shared, and that there may be things like snoring, doors, etc. We follow that up with "if communal living is not something you are comfortable with, this is not a good fit for you" Also our breakfast always includes bacon, eggs, milk, orange juice, coffee, tea, cheese, at least 2x fresh fruits, home made bread, home made rolls, home made butter, and on request vegi's for our vegetarian guests. There are also pancakes, but he wasn't really paying attention to the tour and missed most of it. In fact, if we do not provide these items as we list them as an amenity, a guest could get a refund. Our rules are pretty basic. Go ahead and read through them. It's all common sense, but Airbnb does not allow us to kick people out for things unless it's in the rules. My girlfriend and I take hosting very seriously. We have been hosts for nearly 5 years now and are guests quite often as well. I am not apologetic for how I treated Drew. I am only sorry that i didn't kick him out on the 2nd night. I believe in treating people equal to or better than how they treat me, until they are jerks. He was a jerk, and I treated him as one. 99.5% of our guests have a fantastic time, and he was that half percent. Would not host again. Would definitely suggest no one else booking him as swell. Feel free to read the rest of our reviews for other peoples experiences who weren't complete and utter morons.
