I hope that your visit will be at a time when we're both free to have a few meals together and chat. But I'm flexible--it may well be the case that either or both of us are too busy for that!
Note for AIRP participants: My AIRP guests have all been extremely focused on their studies. I think they have found that my quiet house lends itself well to both individual and, for groups that have reserved 2-3 rooms, group study sessions. I am quiet and unobtrusive, and want to support your efforts to learn as much as you can while you're here.
If you're interested in a long-term stay, perhaps for an internship, professional training, or fellowship, you are likely to find this central location well-suited to your needs. I'm sure you'll find both your room and the entire house comfortable and convenient for study, relaxation, and exploring downtown DC and Silver Spring.
I warmly welcome people of all different races, ethnic backgrounds, religious and political beliefs, and sexual orientations, and hope that my guests feel the same way. Meeting people of varied backgrounds is one of the things I like most about being a host!
The only guests who can stay or enter our home are the ones who have been booked and discussed upon reserving your stay.
Please note that my dog (hypoallergenic to most people who are allergic to dogs!) is outside almost all day long, with access to our crate in our family room.

I love my work as a speech-language pathologist in an elementary public school. I'm laid-back, maybe a bit on the quiet side, and enjoy hiking, gardening, reading, travel, cooking, nature study, and meeting new people. At the moment, I'm especially focused on learning Spanish, as my school has a high Latino population and I'm teaching English as a second language to adults in the community.
While it's wonderful to live so close to the District (especially for theater, walking, music, and dining) and the Red Line, I frequently walk to downtown Silver Spring and Takoma Park for the farmer's markets, movies at the American Film Institute, dining, and shopping. Each town has its unique character and history, different from more "typical" suburbs. I hope I can introduce some of these things to you during your next trip to the DC area!
