À propos de ce logement

My apartment is small but light and has a spacious feel to it. Step out onto your own dock and sit on a bench overlooking the Biltse Grift (one of the canals in Utrecht). It is close to the old city centre, in a popular, child friendly neighbourhood.

My apartment is small but light and has a spacious feel to it. Step out onto your own dock and sit on a bench overlooking the Biltse Grift (one of the canals in Utrecht). It is close to the old city centre, in a popular, child friendly neighbourhood.

My appartment is an old classroom in a building that used to be a school for veterinarians. It is situated on the old campus for veterinary medicine. You will notice many historical buildings when you come off the bus and walk to my place: on the right hand side you will for example see an old building with 2 turettes, which used to be the riding school and is now a theatre, called the Horse Cathedral. On the left hand side you will see a row of small, narrow houses. They used to be the horses' stables.
My appartment is small (48m2) but spacious-looking because of the very high ceiling and big windows facing the Biltse Grift, one of the canals in Utrecht. There is a mezzanine level with 2 small bedrooms with a double bed in each. Because it is a mezzanine, the ceilings here are rather low: 1.85 meter. The master bedroom's window looks out on the water, giving you the feeling that you are staying in a houseboat. Each bedroom has its own stairs. They are open and (to non-Dutch people) rather steep. For very small children this may be a problem.

You'll have access to all the rooms in my appartment, except for the dressing room. I will lock doors to some cupboards, but you will have access to my kitchen, utensils and whatever foodstuffs happen to be in the cupboards. I would love you to feel at home, so help yourself.
For 10 Euro you may use my little electrical motorboat but only after discussing this together. I need to know whether you'll be able to reasonably negotiate the canals and return my boat in one piece.

I always aim to be there to welcome you and to see you off. If I can't do that because I am away myself, I will arrange for someone to give you the key or I will hide it and give you clear instructions on how to get to it. If you have any questions while at my place, you can give me a call or send me a message through AirBnB. That will make an sms message pop up that I will rarely miss.

My neighbourhood is awesome!! The apartment block is built away from the main streets so it's a quiet area, an oasis in the city! Next to the building is a lawn that is often used by people to have a picnic and to spend quiet afternoons in the sun. Near it, is a restaurant called "Goesting". It is situated in the old dog stall. That doesn't sound too good, but it's a lovely building, and the food is really, really good. A bit pricey, but worth the money. If you decide to have diner there (you should), you could opt for desert at another culinary highlight of Utrecht: Roberto Gelato, just around the corner, on Poortstraat. They cater for dogs too, with a "bark ice cream" for 1 Euro.

There are many buses to get to my place from Utrecht Central Station. Below are their numbers and their directions. Get off at Oorsprongpark (the 5th stop from Central Station, the one after Wittevrouwen). It takes 13 minutes. You can also have a look at (URL HIDDEN)

From the bus stop Oorsprongpark, it is about a 3 minute walk to my place. When you get off the bus, you walk about 10 steps back in the direction you came from, cross the road at the single amber traffic lights, and walk straight into the narrow dead-end street between two buildings (the right one is white, the left one is brick). You are now on the old veterinarian campus. Keep walking to the end of the street until you see an old brick 3 storey apartment to your right. It has big, bright blue double front doors. Have a look at my photos again so you will recognize it.

The building is old and because of it, quite noisy. The aparment block is like a small community. I know most of my neighbours and have good relationships with them. It's very important to me to keep it that way, so please respect them and don't make an unreasonable amount of noise.

Règlement intérieur
Non fumeur
Pas de fête ni de soirée

- Smoking is not allowed in the apartment nor the rest of the building. If you really need to, you can smoke on the dock. Needless to ask not to throw the butts in the water.
- It is not allowed to use the common laundry. My neighbours have objections to this as it is seen as their personal space. There is a laundrette in the Biltstraat, opposite the Jumbo supermarket.
- It is not allowed to wander through the building. Please only use the hallway to get to my apartment.
- I have a dog myself and I love to take her on trips so if you want to take a dog, let me know and we'll talk about 'extra house rules' regarding a dog.

My name is Katina. I live with my dog Eddi, the most beautiful Staffordshire bull terrier in the world (and a real Aussie!). I've lived in Sydney, London and Athens, and worked in Sierra Leone, Sri Lanka and Zaire, and these were all great experiences. They made me feel at home in the world, and comfortable with people from everywhere. In Utrecht, I love rowing and inline skating. Actually, I prefer ice skating but the canals hardly ever freeze over anymore. At least I get to go on the canals in my tiny electrical motor boat. Nothing is better than sailing through the historic canals of Utrecht, with 1 or 2 friends (more don't fit), a bottle of wine and some nibbles.
My appartment is a really great base for tourists staying in Utrecht. I would love to be your host, but when you arrive, I'll go and stay somewhere else. The place is a little too cosy to share :-) If you're with good friends though, there is no problem: there are 2 bedrooms with 2 double beds.
