I am biased -- a total east London girl -- but have to say this is absolutely the best neighborhood in London. It is a thriving, artistic, fun, food and pub-loving spot which mixes the best of traditional London life with the buzz of new and exiting talent. The apartment is two minutes from Columbia Road, which is full of boutique stores and has a world famous flower market every Sunday. You can get huge bargains on gigantic bunches of flowers or plants, if you time your arrival right!
It is also a ten minute walk from Broadway Market, which has been dubbed the best-looking street in London and has a fabulous market every weekend for artisan breads, cheeses, oils, fudge...or big yummy lunches. When the markets aren't on it's a prime spot to sit at the many pubs and bars (the best cocktail bar in London, best place to get freshly ground coffee and best Sunday roast pub are all on this street) and do some people watching -- always fun in the east. Or, go and hang in London Fields and visit their Lido for some swimming then a good coffee afterwards.

There are buses right outside the door which go to Oxford Circus, London Bridge and Waterloo. Bethnal Green is the closest tube, around ten minutes walk away. That is on the central line and takes you right into town in 15 minutes. It is also ten minutes walk from Hoxton Overground which is an easy connection to places including Canary Wharf. The flat is on an intersection with a busy road, so be aware some traffic noise can be heard -- the windows are double-glazed and it's a top floor so it's deflected but flagging up for those who are sensitive to noise. Also, there is no lift, but if you have a lot of gear I'll be here to help carry it up the stairs.

Spent a wonderful two weeks in this charming one-bed flat in the heart of east London. When we arrived the place was in spotless condition and the host, Irene, had even left us a bottle of wine to enjoy on our first night. Full of natural light, this flat offers amazing views of the City of London and is in walking distance from Broadway Market, Columbia Road and Brick Lane. I would highly recommend here to anyone looking for a place to check out all the charms and eccentricities that east London has to offer.

It was great staying at Irene's place. It was a beautiful little house with all the necessities, more like home away from home. It is quite well located close to central London. The neighbourhood was quite & safe. Its a shame that we could not meet Irene as she was travelling but her partner Stephen ensured that we were well received and she was just a mail away for any help. I would highly recommend it for a family.

I booked this lovely flat for my parents when they came to see me in London. They loved the place, Irene's flat is lovely, superclean and bright and very well connected. She also left a bottle of wine and some delicious food to welcome the guests and made everything very easy for us. Highly recommended!

This one bedroom apartment is suburb - conveniently located to bus and trains with frequent taxis. This area in East London is surrounded by charismatic markets and shops . The Unit is adequately furnished for stays of about a week and has a washing machine . The natural sun dried our clothes! My only negative is the absence of a lift to the third floor apartment. We had three heavy suitcases and suffered. The cheerful Owner graciously stocked the pantry or us.

We stayed in the Irene's flat for six weeks and it was a really beautiful experience, absolutely to recommend! The house is perfect for two people and is located in a strategic position, very well connected by several bus lines to the center of London that stop almost in front of the entrance door of the building (in just 10 minutes to get to Liverpool Street Station). The apartment is safe, practical, comfortable, warm and very bright, equipped with everything you need even for a long stay as it was ours. The area of Shoredicht is full of bars and pubs, very much alive, especially during the weekend, and emerging - the Broadway Market (for the food) on Saturday and the flower's market in Columbia Road on Sunday, both a short walk from the house, are an example -. Brick Lane is also just a 15- minute walk away. Irene is a special guest, very helpful for everything and at anytime, polite and friendly . We contacted Irene after landing in London and she drove up to the house by phone, expecting us at the bus stop. The reception was the best, with a good bottle of red wine, a cheese platter with jam and a chocolate cake in the fridge! We thank her and her flat for making our stay in London even more memorable!

Irene is an amazing host! Even if she was new at it, she left us the apartment perfectly clean, she was flexible on the check-in and even thought of leaving a welcome board with wine and cheese which was a really good surprise :) We loved the apartment, it is very comfortable and nicely located in Shoreditch area. Irene gave us many local tips we really appreciated, we'll definitely come back if we visit London again. Thanks for everything Irene, we had a wonderful stay !

Irene is the greatest host known to man. She was so friendly and helpful. Her place is in a perfect location, with a bus stop out the front and a tube station 10 minutes away by foot. Great little cafes around the streets. The apartment is fantastic with all the bits and pieces you need for a comfortable stay in London. Irene was great at communicating and gave my girlfriend and I many tips about London as it was out first time visiting. She even had some nibbles waiting for us upon our arrival. Even though the apartment is on a main(ish) road, we had no problems with noise or getting a good nights sleep!
