STRATFORD CITY, 2012 Olympics, Stratford Westfield, West Ham Park, West Ham Football Ground, London Excel,O2 Arena

This short term, vacation rental is located in Plaistow, London borough of Newham, Stratford area – East London, tube zone 2 and 3.
2012 Olympics held in Stratford cleared the way for а stunning upgrades and transformations in the area

With 250 shops plus 70 places to dine, Westfield Stratford City is the largest shopping mall in Europe and the new lifestyle destination for East London.

World-class leisure facilities include Vue Cinema, one of the largest, most innovative all-digital cinemas in Europe boasting 17 all digital screens; All Star Lanes, a luxury bowling experience; and finally, the new 65,000ft Aspers Casino with its two bars and 80 seat restaurant will set a benchmark in the UK, being the first to be granted a large casino license.

Part of one of the largest urban regeneration projects ever undertaken in the UK, Westfield Stratford City also offers spectacular views of the Olympic Park.

Westfield Stratford City's unrivalled dining offer stretches across four distinct areas. The Mezzanine casual dining area will feature some of the UK's leading restaurants, Wagamama, Las Iguanas and Giraffe among them; the lower ground Food Court will include popular operators such as Harry Ramsden's, Sticky Rice and Crêpeaffaire while The Great Eastern Market is a totally original and contemporary take on the traditional food market.

There are tempting foodie places for whatever your tastes. There are places remaining true to their roots. There are over 70 places to eat around Westfield Stratford City and Stratford High Street. There are places with established cult followings and there are places where people know each other's names and will eventually know yours too.

Love shopping? Or just love having everything in one easy place?
Westfield Stratford is the largest urban shopping centre Europe. Timewise, it's open until 9pm every single night. Nearby, The Stratford Centre hums with indoor and outdoor market stalls.

Open space, cycling space, unwinding space, inspiring space, breathing space – acres and acres of fantastic unspoilt natural space available to roam gives you freedom and feel-good factor. Green space is all around Glasshouse Gardens, from landscaped gardens just outside through to Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park: a haven for wildlife and nature as big as Hyde Park.

Local markets always create a sense of established, time-old community. Columbia Road flower market and Broadway Market in Hackney are no exception. Hackney is also rich in places demonstrating independence of spirit, from a bakery selling jars of Hackney honey to a shop selling vintage wares as if from someone's very own front room.

High Speed 1 (HS1) is the fastest way to get from Stratford International to King's Cross St Pancras International, the biggest interchange station on the London Underground and gateway to Paris, Brussels and beyond.
You're just 8 minutes from the City, 15 minutes from London City Airport and less than an hour from London Gatwick, Heathrow or Stansted airports. And it is proposed that the Jubilee and Central line will run 24 hours a day from Friday to Sunday in 2015.
With 9 different tube and train lines and 195 trains an hour (more than London Victoria or Waterloo), Stratford Station offers easy, fast and direct links to key destinations. By 2019 Crossrail will provide a 24-trains an hour service at peak times in each direction between Whitechapel and Paddington. Trains will then run across or connect with the National Rail network on three branches.

There are plenty of brand new cycle routes to enjoy, the scenic routes along the River Lea canals by foot and bicycle and by boat along the Thames using the Thames Clipper from Greenwich.

Road links to central London are also excellent as well as links out along the A12 to the M11 and M25.

West Ham Park is a public park in the London Borough of Newham. Spanning 77 acres (31 ha), the park has been managed by the City of London Corporation since 1874. Previously it was the grounds of Ham House, owned by the Gurney family and demolished in 1872. In 1874 John Gurney gave a large contribution towards the purchase of Ham House and grounds (to which he had succeeded) by the Corporation of the City of London, to serve as a public open space. It features a botanical garden, children's playgrounds and many sporting facilities: football pitches, cricket nets, tennis courts and an athletics track.

There is also a nursery that is one of the largest operations of its kind in the UK, producing over 200K spring and summer bedding plants each year for the park, gardens and churchyards in the City of London and other Corporation Open Spaces. Plants grown in the Nursery are also used to add floral embellishment to State occasions and banquets hosted by the City of London Corporation.

Guided tours of the nursery and Park are available by prior arrangement with the Park Office.

ExCeL London is an exhibitions and international convention centre in the London Borough of Newham. It is located on a 100-acre site on the northern quay of the Royal Victoria Dock in London Docklands, between Canary Wharf and London City Airport.

The O2 Arena, referred to as North Greenwich Arena in the context of the 2012 Summer Olympics and 2012 Summer Paralympics, is a multi-purpose indoor arena located in the centre of The O2, a large entertainment complex on the Greenwich Peninsula in London. It is named after its main sponsor, the telecommunications company O2.

The O2 Arena has the second-highest seating capacity of any indoor venue in the UK, behind the Manchester Arena, but took the crown of the world's busiest music arena from New York's Madison Square Garden in 2008. Visitor Oyster Cards and Travelcards in London

Whether you're making a one-off trip to London or you're a regular visitor, using an Oyster travel smartcard is the easiest way to travel around the city's public transport network.
Visitor Oyster cards are electronic smartcards that come fully charged with credit which you can spend as you travel on the Tube, DLR, MBNA Thames Clippers river bus service, London Overground and most National Rail services in London.
It's easy to use a Visitor Oyster card. Simply touch the card on the yellow card reader at the gates when you start and end your journey. This will ensure you pay the correct fare. If you don't, you may get charged a penalty fare. If you need help, ask a member of station staff.
You only need to touch the yellow card reader at the start of your journey on buses and trams.

Travel Zones in London

London's public transport network is divided up into nine travel zones. Zone 1 is in Central London and zones 6 to 9 are on the outskirts of the city. You can download a Tube map from our selection of Free London Travel Maps.
Travel ticket prices vary depending on the transport service you use, the zone(s) you travel in, the day you travel and the time you travel.
Peak travel is between 6:30am to 9.30am and 4.30pm to 7pm, Monday to Friday. Travel is more expensive during these hours than it is during off peak travel times (all other times, including bank holidays).

Buy a Visitor Oyster Card Before You Leave Home

A Visitor Oyster card is one of the cheapest ways to pay for single journeys on the bus, Tube, DLR, tram, MBNA Thames Clippers river bus service, London Overground and most National Rail services in London:
Save time – your card is ready to use as soon as you arrive in London
It's more than 50% cheaper than buying a paper Travelcard or single tickets with cash
There is a daily price cap – once you have reached this limit, you won't pay any more

Enjoy special offers and promotions at leading London restaurants, shops and entertainment venues – plus discounts on the Emirates Air Line cable car and MBNA Thames Clippers river buses.

Buy a Visitor Oyster card before you visit London and get it delivered to your home address. A card costs £3 (non-refundable) plus postage. You can choose how much credit to add to your card. If you are visiting London for two days, we recommend you start with £20 credit.

You can also buy a Visitor Oyster card from Gatwick Express ticket offices at Gatwick Airport Station and on board Eurostar trains travelling to London.

Buy a Visitor Oyster Card in Your Own Currency

You can, if you prefer, pay for your Visitor Oyster card using money from your own country.

Oyster Cards

Oyster cards work in the same way as Visitor Oyster cards but do not include special offers and promotions. Oyster cards cost £5 (refundable) and can also be loaded with credit.
Only UK residents can buy Oyster cards before they travel to London.
If you do not live in the UK, either buy a Visitor Oyster card before you leave home, or buy an Oyster card once you arrive in London.

1 Day Travelcards

A 1 Day Travelcard is a paper ticket which allows you to travel as much as you like, as often as you like, for a single day. You can use it on the bus, Tube, DLR, tram, MBNA Thames Clippers river bus service, London Overground and most National Rail services within London.
Get a third off the normal fee on most river boat services with a Travelcard. You can also get a 25% discount on fares for the Emirates Air Line cable car.

You can buy 1 Day Travelcards for the following zones:

Zones 1-4 (only Anytime Day Travelcards are available for these zones)
Zones 1-6
Zones 1-9
Zones 1-9 including Watford Junction
You can use Anytime Day Travelcards from 9.30am Monday to Friday and all day Saturday and Sunday.

7 Day Travelcards

If you want to buy a 7 Day Travelcard, this ticket is only available on an Oyster card, not as a paper ticket. This means you will need to buy an Oyster card and get a 7 Day Travelcard loaded onto it.

What are Contactless Payment Cards?

Contactless payment cards are debit, credit or pre-paid cards which can be used to make quick, easy and secure payments for everyday purchases of £20 or less. You do not need to use a PIN or a signature.
If you are using a contactless payment card to travel in London, touch the card on the yellow card reader in the same way as Visitor Oyster cards and Oyster cards at the start and end of your journey.

The major benefits for using contactless payment cards are:

- You won't run out of credit
- If you use the same card for all your journeys your fares will be automatically capped daily and weekly (Monday to Sunday) so that you only pay the cheapest fare. - Pay-as-you-go capping does not apply when using Oyster or Visitor Oyster card to pay.
For contactless payment cards issued outside the UK, check for any transaction fees or bank charges that may apply.

Which Ticket to Buy?

Deciding which ticket to buy – a Visitor Oyster card, Oyster card or Travelcard – depends on how long you're staying in London and how frequently you'll be using public transport.
If you plan to make two to four journeys a day for a couple of days, or if you want to travel to the outskirts of the city, then a Visitor Oyster card, Oyster card or contactless payment card will be your cheapest options.
If you are visiting London for a week or more, and plan to use only the central London area (e.g. zones 1 to 2 or zones 1 to 4) to make four or more journeys per day on a daily basis, then a 7 Day Travelcard may be the most cost-effective option.

Discounts and Concessions
Travel discounts and concessions are available, including kids who travel free in London.
