A cozy bedroom in a large art studio building. Shared bathroom with other guests who are staying at our other listing - the Pondhouse. Art & handmade furniture surrounds you. Wake up in a super comfy bed & beautiful views on 50 acres. Hike nearby trails. Enjoy the country and explore the Berkshires.Great for people who just want a nice place to sleep.
A cozy bedroom on the ground floor of a large art studio - and family compound that includes our house & artist studios in Ashfield, MA. In this special place you are surrounded by beauty everywhere you look. Handmade crafts, interesting furniture, art and photography on the walls, and the gardens and landscape are breathtaking. This cozy room has a full bathroom right across the hall. It's private in the winter and other seasons if no guests are staying in our other listing (the Pondhouse). May through October the Pondhouse is quite booked and you would for sure be sharing the bathroom with at least 2 people. This bedroom is in the studio building next to our house and has it's own private entrance. It is perfect for guests doing a local workshop or coming for an event and wants a cozy place to stay. Spotty cell service, but has a land line. Has wifi.
If you are 2 or 3 people who need separate beds, I can set up an extra single and there will be an additional $35 charge. Best for a single or couple.
This room is a great addition to a reservation in our other listing - the Pondhouse - if you have too many people to fit in the pond house - or if some of you aren't into Glamping.
5 min from Shelburne Falls, MA., and 20 min from skiing at Berkshire East. About 1 hr from Mass Moca - North Adams. We are located within 30-45 minutes of six colleges and many attractions in the Pioneer Valley, as well as about 1 hr from North Adams and Williamstown. Eat breakfast at the world famous Elmer's, (Voted by Yankee Mag. to have the best breakfast in New England! ) There are a few amazing restaurants nearby in Shelburne Falls and great pizza in Ashfield. We will be happy to give you all kinds of info on the best places. Check out galleries and artists studios in Shelburne Falls, walk across the gorgeous Bridge of Flowers, take a raft trip down the Deerfield River with Zoar outdoor. Check out the amazing glacial formations the "Potholes." Swim and sun at Ashfield Lake ( see photo), check out the Ashfield Farmers market on Saturday, or in the winter - ski at Berkshire East only 20 min away!
Cell phones only work in certain spots but there is a land line you can use. Come to unplug!
No nearby transit. Sorry! It's the boonies. You need a car. The 'neighborhood' is very quiet - the peepers at our nearby pond and sounds of the woods will be the only thing you will hear at night.
Peter and I are both artists with our home and studios in 3 buildings ( this guest room is in the downstairs part of Peter's studio) The bathroom with a shower/tub is located across the hall from this bedroom.
If you bring a dog ( we love well behaved dogs!) you may not leave it in your room while you are gone.
GETTING THERE From New York, drive north on Interstate 95 to I-91 north. From I-91, take Exit 26 in Greenfield, Mass., and follow State Route 2 west (the Mohawk Trail) for about eight miles. For downtown Shelburne Falls, turn left at the Sweetheart Restaurant sign onto Maple Street, then left onto Bridge Street.

We greet you when you come and are happy to give you a run down on things to do around here, great places to eat etc.
It's the perfect place if you just need a nice room to sleep after your days/nights activities. Cannot promise quiet after 10 am as it Peter's work studio.
This room is downstairs in a building that has a large art studio upstairs. We appreciate that you do not wander upstairs alone - but if the timing works we are happy to give you a guided tour! No smoking. Pets are ok, but we must discuss. There is a wood shop on the same floor. This is a working studio - a great cozy room if you just need a place to sleep at night - not a quiet room to hang out during the day. There is a table and chairs for sitting outside. Bathroom is shared with other guests.

I am an illustrator & my husband Peter Kitchell is a photographer/painter/builder all round renaissance man . We've lived out here for 28 years after moving from San Francisco. Our kids are out of the house - and we decided it made sense to open up our place. Both of us have our work studios here. I jog & walk daily with our dog Charlie and do yoga as often as possible in town at Shelburne Falls Yoga & spin in Greenfield about 30 min. away. I'm vegan and love to cook. We both love to travel and have stayed as Airbnb guests many times. We love to go see live music and movies or can easily spend a whole day laying around reading if we have the time. After many years of living out here with just our family, it's been fun to open up our place for others to enjoy it. We really enjoy all the interesting people we've had the pleasure of meeting as Airbnb hosts!
