À propos de ce logement

Unwind from a business week in SF or Silicon Valley. Arise from your queen bed to a sunny deck overlooking organic gardens, redwoods and mountains. Stroll to a giant redwood, the hidden treasure of our neighborhood. Rustic charm close to urban centers. Shared bath down the hall.

Le logement

We have several rooms in our home. This is "Room B". It is cozy, spacious with lots of light and a sliding door to a private deck. The full bathroom is shared and down the hall.
We are casual and rustic chic here in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Perched in the redwoods, our home is an architectural wonder built by our family of engineers and artists back in the eclectic seventies. Over the years an assemblage of art, antiques and curios has charmed its way into the spacious rooms and lofts. We offer 6 acres of quiet ambiance for guests and business travelers. Surrounded by redwoods and wildlife, our year round Organic Gardens provide robust greens for the Culinary Artist at the Montalvo Center for the Arts in Saratoga and other private chefs in the Bay Area.
Although our location is central to all the area has to offer, you may just want to sit on one of our many decks and commune with the muse, ponder the profundities, finish that novel, play the piano, paint the landscape, breathe deeply....
Then for a break, you are
-5 miles from Henry Cowell State Park, 28 miles from Big Basin State Park, both have stunning hiking and biking trails,
-Popular cycling routes just off our driveway
-10 miles from the beach and all the wonderful weirdness that is Santa Cruz,
-20 minutes from Silicon Valley,San Jose International Airport, and a myriad of metropolitan pleasures,
-1 hour south of San Francisco, my favorite city in the world,
-1 hour north of Monterrey/Carmel,
-1 mile stroll from a stunning old growth redwood, "The King of the Forest."(see Picture) Take a walk or bike ride from our house, and pass by a pony farm, historical markers, vineyards and old stagecoach and railroad routes. This little area of Glenwood is loaded with history.
-64 bonded wineries within 20 mile radius

We make every effort to maintain cleanliness. However, our mountain well water has a high mineral content and 40 years of buildup has left our facilities with a rusty looking surface that is extremely difficult to remove. We sanitize regularly and ask our guests to please keep this in mind. Consider it part of the charm of living in the mountains.

Accès des voyageurs

Kitchen is generally not available but we can be flexible for simple requests. Just ask.
Peace of mind is always accessible, as are the decks, living and music rooms.

Échanges avec les voyageurs

We respect privacy always, but getting to know our guests has been very rewarding for both parties.
Its up to you.

This was my third time staying with Eden and Craig and their fabulous dog Buddy! My experience has been outstanding every time! The location was perfect for the spiritual retreats I have been participating in. The rooms are clean and inviting and comfortable. I love the patio and the small backyard each of the rooms has as well as the extra touches like water and chocolates and flowers. Eden always makes very delicious homemade breakfast treats and also prepares scrumptious meals for a small fee. One of the best things about staying there besides the calm, cozy atmosphere, the beautiful gardens, and the tasty food is the warm generosity and kindness of Eden and Craig. I will definitely stay there again- probably every time I go to the Santa Cruz area because now it feels like home!

Eden was a lovely hostess, and the house is a gem -- I felt instantly at home in my cozy bedroom. Staying there was a perfect Santa Cruz mountain experience (although folks who are unfamiliar with the area: be mindful that you're a decent drive away from downtown and the beach; Scotts Valley is its own place). The trees, the birds, the sunrise, and the peace & quiet were superb. I didn't have the opportunity to stick around for a tasty home-cooked meal, but the banana bread and coffee were top notch.

Staying at this quiet mountain retreat was a delight! It was a great home-base for our short trip to Santa Cruz. The accommodations and hospitality were excellent and it was lovely to meet Eden, Craig and Buddy. We would definitely stay here again!

Eden was very gracious to her three guests. She was very communicative leading up to our stay. After we arrived, we ended up talking for awhile, but I had the feeling that we could've been as private as we wanted as well. There are great porches to hang out on and enjoy the outdoor breeze. The location was beautiful and not too far outside Santa Cruz.

We had such a great time at this cozy spot! We were hoping to land at a cozy "bed and breakfast" type spot, and this was definitely it. Time was spent in town and hiking around town, but one of the highlights to our trip was the time spent on this home's private porch in the evening.
