Our month at the cabaña is without a doubt our favourite stay in the 4 years we've been on the road. A creative retreat in the mountains of Southern Ecuador, a 30 - 60 minute hike down into town (Vilcabamba), which is quite a place itself, great restaurants, cafes, bars... and the people! The place Fintan and Biba have created here is mindblowing and inspiring. The cabaña is perfect, and we spent 90% of our time on the porch enjoying the incredible views of the mountains. We are working remotely, as a web developer and editor, 5 days a week, so needed fast and stable internet. And it was! The internet was actually improved by the internet company whilst we were there and download speed was about 3-6mbps, and as stable as any you will find in Ecuador. And finally, in case you thought it couldn't get any better, the best thing about this place is Biba, Fintan, Camilla, T-man and Monmon - each a legend in their own way! We can't recommend this place enough, book it!

Hey Colin and Yasmine, we are so happy that our little cabaña granted you such a memorable time. We loved having you here and we wish we will keep in touch. We have been called many things in our life, but legends is for sure the most flattering one. Thank you and enjoy your travels xx The Legends

The Cabaña Morada is a serene and peaceful place to stay. One of our favorite AirBnBs ever, and we've stayed in our fair share. The property is beautifully landscaped and the mountain views are unrivalled. The Cabaña is well appointed with a four burner stove and decent sized fridge; we cooked a lot while there and found the kitchen well stocked. The bed is comfy, though the cozy couch on the front porch quickly became our favorite spot. There is tons of hiking right outside the gate, and we loved exploring the surrounding hills. Our hosts were gracious and generous in helping us get to know the area. The Cabaña is best suited for those looking for a quiet place. As the hosts state, walking into town is a good trek, and returns trips are best managed by 4x4 taxis (easy to catch in town). It is best to bring food and provisions with you and settle in. If solitude is what you seek you'll be very happy here.

The peaceful cabaña was exactly that, and felt like home immediately. Biba and Fin must have the best view in Vilcabamba, and we could have easily spent our week sitting on the porch by the garden. Instead, we took advantage of the spectacular hiking just behind their house. The cabin was perfect- clean, charming, and had everything you could need. Biba and Fin were very concientious hosts, and awesome to hang out with (Camilla and T-man too)! By the end of our visit they felt like great friends. We would absolutely recommend this place, and hope to go back sometime. Only thing to be aware of is the distance from town, a $7 cab ride away. We found it nice to walk into town downhill and cab back. Mostly we would go just to get supplies and hang out at the cabin, hiking around and cooking at home. Paradise!

My husband and I are an Italian-Irish mix. We set off from London in 2010 with a plan of traveling South America in our backpack. A year later we ended up embracing a rural life in Vilcabamba,Ecuador.
We bought land, built our house and the dwelling you'll be living at, and planted over 500 coffee plants in the hope to pursue our coffee production dream.
We have one primadonna cat named Luigi and a loyal guardian dog called T-Man and a copper rooster, George, always sitting on the roof of our house. We also have a real rooster called Gustavo who roams proudly with his ten hens.
We are friendly and open-minded,
We love: new cultures, old furniture, red wine, strong coffee, the sound of humming birds, the spanish word for purring (=ronronear)
We don't love: selfishness, holes in socks, overcooked pasta, blockbuster movies, 80's music.
