First bad experience of hosting, and first time I felt very uncomfortable, which was mainly because of Richard's comment "I hate children", knowing that I myself had two little ones asleep. Our neighbour's child cried (tantrum maybe) at 9.30pm, but it only lasted for 10 minutes. if it had lasted for longer I would have knocked on our neighbours' door to explain the inconvenience caused. Unfortunately, noisy neighbours can be the same problem in a hotel bedroom (as we experience it in a hotel during our summer holiday).
We have thoroughly enjoyed hosting, and have always made our guests feel comfortable by having a nice chat with a cup of tea or glass of wine. we have two reception rooms which guests can use. With Richard there very little words exchanged, and he refused to look around the house when he arrived, saying that he only wanted to go to his room. Had he accepted to have a tour, he would have been shown the two reception rooms, and the desk in the study, which guests can use, as well as the dinning room table. Maybe Airbnb spirit doesn't suit Richard, and he would have much preferred a hotel? Very disappointing guest, but this one-off hasn't put us off.
