We were delighted by a bottle of wine and a few snacks awaiting our arrival. This place is nicer than the pictures let on. This an old house, with old house charm and quirks. However, it is obvious the owner put a lot of work into fixing it up. Fresh paint (and replaster walls) throughout, no creaky floors (tile, new wood floors, no plumbing issues, and new carpet throughout). The back porch was nice after a long day with a glass of wine in the cool evening after a long hot day. There is a large fenced back yard where we kept our mostly well-behaved pups.
We walked to a pretty decent Mexican restaurant (have their margarita!) There is also an Italian restaurant, but we didn't eat there. It's 1/2 mile from Starbucks (which would be an easy walk, as well). Across the street is a trail head for a river trail (the Puyallup River is very close).
The neighborhood feels safe and is pretty quiet with the exception of the occasional Harley or noisy diesel pickup, or booming teenager car driving by. We felt comfortable and safe walking around in the evening. We slept with the windows open every night. If you don't mind the sound of trains in the distance (I personally love that sound), you can sleep with fans on.
There is parking that extends to the backyard - which was helpful since we brought a trailer, we could keep it locked up within the fence when we were out. (The dogs helped guard it, too).
Jim, the host, lives nearby and is super communicative without being too nosey (we like our privacy). He went out of his way to make this a good experience, including taking in some packages we shipped ahead of us and being flexible with the checkout time to accommodate our schedule (no new renters coming in that day).
I would definetly stay here again.
