The best designed and made of the Tuarach wooden cabins, this is a real Hobbit house! 2 rooms = 2 double & 2 single beds. Next to loch with mountains and pub nearby. Wood burner- wood for sale on-site. Electricity on £1 meter. Recently refurbished.
The best designed of the Tuarach wooden cabins, this is a real Hobbit house! It can sleep up to six people; -upstairs there is a loft bedroom for a couple and a small adult or child. Downstairs there is a separate large, wood panelled bedroom which has one double bed and a single bed.
The communal area comprises the fully equipped kitchen: gas cooker, kettle, toaster and fridge/freezer, and the well lit dining table with armchairs for four people around the wood burning stove.
The dinky bathroom has a toilet, hand wash basin and an (electric) shower cubicle. Hot water must be heated on the stove or by kettle.
The cabin is heated by an electric radiator heater in each room and a large wood burning stove which can take long logs. Electricity is on a £1 coin meter.
The cabin is 50 yards from the Loch Voil Hostel which has internet access. There is ample parking near the cabin itself. It has its own back door into a picnic area with great views of loch and mountain.
There are stunning views from the cabin over the loch and up Monachyle Glen. The surrounding area is full of wild life including deer, foxes, otters, pine martens and many varieties of birds. Walking is possible along the loch side and up the surrounding hills including Munros Ben Mor and Stabinion and adjacent Corbetts. Fishing and boating on the two lochs is also an option and National Cycle Routes pass nearby.
Wellington boots and use of the ferry boat are available for guests.
Access is by car along a four mile unpaved track or by subsidised taxi from the A84 - Balquhidder Road End (King’ House Hotel) to the Monachyle Mhor Hotel which is on the North side of the glen. From there a short walk down a field and a water crossing via stepping stones or ferry will bring you here. Phone from the main road to let us know you are getting nearer -especially if you want a ferry pick-up.
Edinburgh and Glasgow airports are no more than two hours drive away and there are plentiful Ryanair Flights from all over Europe to Edinburgh.
This cabin is ideal for people who want to feel close to nature. Monachyle Tuarach is unique as it is a microcosm of all that is best about the Scottish Highlands. The beauty of the landscape and the nature is unrivalled. This is the place for people who want a real taste of adventure in the wild without having to travel too far from an airport.

Love travel, especially in the Scottish Highlands and Islands. Have visited India, China, USA and Mexico and even Siberia. Love countries with indigenous cultural traditions - like our very own Gaelic-speaking Scotland. Worked in Gaelic animation for 20 years. Before that there was the Book of Am and now there are 7 grand-children...
