How can I possibly beat Shlomo's hundreds of glowing reviews! I had a great time staying there, the location was perfect for me, quiet, and close enough so it was easy to get to the center. It was perfectly clean, with a very friendly host. It was very comfortable to stay there for a long time (4 months). Shlomo always welcomed me to do things with him, and also left me alone when I got busy. Absolutely would recommend to anyone, and will miss Shlomo a whole lot.

Shlomo is a good host, he tries to help, gives hints what you can visit (even though he does not know the bus system well), and shares his home with the guests. It is a house from the 1950ies, if you expect western standard, you will be disappointed, but if you like older houses, it is nice. I enjoyed my stay in Jerusalem. I wish Shlomo all the best.

"Shlomo is a good host, he tries to help, gives hints what you can visit (even though he does not know the bus system well)" Karl - Thank you, I enjoyed your stay! As to my knowledge of the bus system, sorry I had the feeling you have expected me to know all the bus lines in Israel… Naturally I know only the main ones near my home. However I think we've spent much time together, trying to find for you some bus lines in far away small towns and esoteric locations, which I am sorry I've never used… "It is a house from the 1950ies, if you expect western standard, you will be disappointed" Indeed the house is from the 1950ies, (renovated in the 1970ies), so are about 95% of the houses/buildings in my neighborhood and the nearby ones (built from stones, 1930ies - 1980ies). I understand you like nature, but I prefer living walking distance from city center and major cultural centers, rather than in newer neighborhoods (built in the 1990ies - 2110ies), but which are much far from major cultural centers, with almost no on going 'street life' - such as people around the streets, students' life, restaurants, cafes, bars, small shops, etc. (It is the same around the center of Tel Aviv - most houses are from the 1930ies – 1970ies… but full of 'street life', many people all around... Old houses and buildings are also part of the "western world" such as in Paris, London, New York, etc.) Again Karl - I thank you very much, wishing you all the best, suggesting that next time, you are most welcome to visit Jerusalem, Tel-Aviv... and Israel at the better spring/summer seasons.

Shlomo was great. He is always willing to help out his guests with anything they could possibly want or need. Not only will he help you with directions, there is a giant map in the kitchen that is super useful. I loved chatting with Shlomo about anything. I would highly recommend going with Shlomo to the museum. The house is old, as other reviews have mentioned, but Shlomo is always working on improving the house. Some reviewers have mentioned that the house is not as clean as they would have liked, but I think that they were confusing clean with organized. Shlomo cleans the whole house once a week and does an extra cleaning before guests arrive. On the other hand, it is a little disorganized. The house is in an excellent location. I was able to walk everywhere in Jerusalem. It is about half an hour to the Old City, the Israel Museum, and the Market. The neighbor hood is green and peaceful as advertised. I was very comfortable staying here.

We give Shlomo the highest recommendation as host: helpful, warm, and attentive but not intrusive. The accommodations were simple, clean, and restful — all in all a very comfortable place to stay. And, as other guests have noted, the residential neighborhood of Kiryat Shmuel/Rehavia where Shlomo lives is convenient to the city center and tourist sites but also serves as a quiet refuge when needed. Our stay was enhanced by discovering that we have mutual interests in the arts, especially photography and film — and we both have 25-year-old sons who are deeply immersed in the study of music. I hope to return to Jerusalem before too long, and would be delighted to stay at Shlomo's again if possible!
