À propos de ce logement

This pristine home is in a beautiful rural location surrounded by the Gwynns Falls. The main house includes two bedrooms on the 2nd floor- 2 beds and a daybed, along with a small bedroom on the first floor. Each has a private bath. There is a private area separated from the main house where I live when I have guests. It has a livingroom with fireplace, large bedroom and private bath. This space is totally separate from the rest of the home; I often never see my guests when they are here.

Description

This pristine home is in a beautiful rural location surrounded by the Gwynns Falls. The main house includes two bedrooms on the 2nd floor- 2 beds and a daybed, along with a small bedroom on the first floor. Each has a private bath. There is a private area separated from the main house where I live when I have guests. It has a livingroom with fireplace, large bedroom and private bath. This space is totally separate from the rest of the home; I often never see my guests when they are here.

We are directly across the street from the Gwynns Falls river and waterfall and Gwynns Falls/Leakin Park, while only 6 miles from downtown Baltimore. The setting is serene and surrounded by nature. Bring your bikes and follow the Gwynns Falls trail into downtown Baltimore. The village of Dickeyville is on the list of historic places, with beautiful gardens, and charming residents. Check out the website for Dickeyville. It's really magical.
I will provide everything you need in terms of linens for the bedrooms, along with fluffy bath and hand towels. The home is very large and guests have access to all of it. There are two patios for breakfast in the morning and an upstairs porch for a glass of wine in the evening. All in a quiet, peaceful, dog walking community. I do live on the premises, but the spaces are large enough for total privacy if needed.

The main house boasts a fully renovated kitchen, living room, dining room, fireplace, 3 private bedrooms and 2 renovated bathrooms. Private patios for meals and private porch overlooking the river.

As little or as much as they would like. I can offer recommendations for restaurants or other happenings around Baltimore because I am close to the main house. I can also respect your privacy and follow your lead on how much interaction you would like.

The neighborhood reminds me of an old New England Village that time has forgotten. There are street lamps, and an 'Oddfellows' home, bordering one of the largest park systems on the East coast. Most folks are very friendly, love dogs and have sumptuous gardens. Many are in the arts and display their works in the local gallery we rent on the main street. We have a pancake breakfast, Barn fire and stew cookoff, 4th of July parade and many other events every year. Very tight community.

Downtown Baltimore is 15 - 20 minutes with traffic. You can bike into the city using the Gwynns Falls trail - there are other biking trails as well. Don't be surprised if you see deer, foxes, owls, and other fauna (animals know a good spot when they see it too!!) Best to bring a rental or your own car.

The house has one small dog (a pomeranian) who loves all people and other pets, in addition to a kitty who is very mellow. Both are quite friendly and get along with other animals.

Mary's home was secluded while still being in a city. You could hear the birds chirping in the morning and hear the water fall. Great water pressure and hot showers. The bathroom was roomy and the home was tidy. Mary pays attention to her flower gardens and we were able to appreciate their beauty. My husband smokes so the private balcony and porches were ideal for him to step out in comfort. The home was occupied by Mary but we never saw her. Her space was clearly separate from ours. The only time we saw her was when we called out to her. Then she was there immediately to answer questions or assist us.

Thank you Marianne for your kind words. I will definitely take your suggestion seriously, and I wish that I could have been more accommodating. You and Brent were so nice and your daughter and friend were so easy to talk with. Thank again, from the bottom of my heart. Happy Travels! Mary

Mary's place is charming, comfortable and clean. She has many modern details that complement her antique furniture. Mary, herself, is sweet and kind; she's a delight and great to talk to although she doesn't impose unless you engage her. I liked that. There were three girls in our group and we took the upstairs two rooms that shared a bathroom. One room is a queen with a nice dresser and a window. Lovely linens and a down comforter. Two of us stayed in the other room that has a queen and twin daybed, which also has great linens and warm blankets/pillows. There is also a desk and vanity, which came in very handy for getting ready and buying stock last minute! My best friend and I slept in the queen and used the daybed as a chat sofa to plan our weekend and enjoy tea that we made downstairs in the very modern, eco-friendly, kitchen. We were participating in the Women's March, so we needed space to make our posters. Since Mary was also going, she was delighted and had no problem with us spreading out in one of the downstairs rooms on the floor with our poster board, stencils, paint and markers. :-) Mary's stairs turn twice as you go up them and add great character to the beautiful white house. Wooden floors, area rugs, modern tile in kitchen and baths, lots of windows, a real wood burning fireplace, pretty curtains, soft color, a kitty cat, a dog that doesn't impose, recycling bins, coffee/tea station, and an amazing river and waterfall across the street. It's part of the very long Gwyns Falls Park/River that runs into the Baltimore Harbor. I'd recommend making this a HQ for visiting Baltimore or DC, 20 and 35 mins to each respectively. Otherwise, beyond the park/river, you won't find much near Mary's home.

We had a great stay with Mary. The only problem that we had was that the place is listed as an "entire place". Mary lives in the house and was there the entire time. She even hung out with us in the living room. Not saying that she was unpleasant, just that when you boom an "entire place" I expect it to be an entire place with privacy. That is why I select "entire place" and am willing to pay more for that privacy. I kind of feel cheated that she does not disclose that she lives in the house and will be sharing the common spaces with the guests. That would have effected my decision to stay at this Airbnb.

It is stated in the text and description that I occupy a private suite, totally separate from the rest of the house. This is all clearly outlined in the description - capitalized and in bold. Mike was NEVER on the premises and when I was in the living room with his crew I was building a fire, as I did everyday before they came home from work so the house would be cozy and warm. I spoke with Mike by phone after he booked and told him the exact living situation I described above. He said no problem and was more than happy about it. I charge $85 per night and he had 5 and sometimes 6 people staying there each night. I think this is a pretty good deal and so does he and this is why he booked.

We had a very pleasant stay! Mary was a welcoming and accommodating host. The house was cozy but spacious enough for the 5 of us. Nice walking trails close by and a friendly neighborhood. We would stay again if we are in the area!

Mary was very flexible even though or film shooting ran late. We're so grateful for her patience and hospitality.

I have lived in the Washington DC area for almost 20 years and recently moved to Baltimore, MD. I came down here from New England (Connecticut) to go to grad school at American University. My interests are gardening, yoga, animals, and anything that has to do with nature. I teach in the classroom at University of Maryland, Baltimore County and online with Walden University. My subject is English and Writing. I have a dog named Frankie and a cat named Puff Daddy.
I have traveled a lot in my younger days for studies and professional work. Now I look forward to creating a home environment that is peaceful, enchanting and full of love. A place I no longer want to leave very often. It's getting there...
More about me upon request. Thanks. Mary
