Before my arrival, the communication with Sally were very helpful, informative for my travel. After I arrived, from the moment that Ian, Ratree and families met me at airport, it impressed me with their hospitality & consideration. They showed me around to the temples (far beyond my expectation, amazing!), local market to make me feel a local taste, show me fishing, their farm, cows ... Truely want to say thanks to this lovely families (including the ones living in the same village), very friendly, concern about my travelling alone, letting me feel at home. I enjoy staying with the families, lovely dogs & cats ... :) Hope to come back in the future!

Rural Thailand at its best . plantation 21 is exactly that , after leaving Ubon airport and googling the directions i found the farm without any trouble . My first impression was "wow" the farm consists of two traditional wooden single story self contained buildings, a outside kitchen, a very welcome swimming pool and to crown it all ( for me ) a fantastic fishing lake. The hosts Ian and Lardy we're there to greet me and after a welcome drink and unloading my suite case it was straight to the pool for a relaxing swim . The pool with its own outside shower was warm from the days sun , surrounded by trees and ferns , spotlessly clean and just perfect after a long days travel. My room was huge , had a big tv , dvd player with vast dvd library , table and chairs and a small sofa , again like everything at Plantation 21 it's well appointed and spotless. After a good nights sleep and a very welcome cooked breakfast it was time to test my fishing ( novice ) skills lol , having fished for 30 minuets and already bagged two different species of fish it was clear to me this lake was well stocked and maintained making it ideal for the novice fishermen ( like me ) and pro's alike. There were many different species of fish some native to Thailand and others not , including carp, piraña, and catfish to name but a few. To sum up Plantation 21 would be to say it's a safe , relaxing , very rural haven for anyone of any age looking for a (getaway from it all ) place to unwind with attentive hosts. Thank you again Ian & Lardy , in the words of a famous movie star " I'll be back "

It was a unforgettable trip for all of us, especially the 2 kids. We drove all the way from Bangkok to Don Mot Deang and had some difficulties in getting to the villa but Ian was able to quickly locate us. After a long journey, it was a real treat to find home cooked dinner waiting for us at the plantation. It is a quiet place, literally, in the middle of a jungle. We stayed a night and headed for Pha Taem national park the next day. We got back to the villa the next day and stayed for 3 nights. There was never a dull moment during our stay. The kids loved the dogs, Sam and Pancake, the small frogs and even the geckos. The well stocked fishing pond was one of the highlights of this trip. Everyone went crazy over fishing and every free moment was spent at the pond. Ian and Lardy were very helpful and took good care of everyone. We loved their bacon and egg breakfasts and enjoyed several barbecue dinners. Ian and Lardy went out of their way to ensure that the kids had a memorable holiday which they would remember for many years to come. We were fortunate to have their assistance when my husband fell ill and was hospitalized for 2 days. Thank you, Ian and Lardy. This is certainly the place to go for folks wishing to get away from city life. With your own transport, there are many interesting places to visit, such as Pha Taem National Park, Srindhorn Dam and village markets.

Upon arrival Lardy and Ian wete very welcoming. They made us feel at home and made their best to accomodate us in every way possible. We thought it would have a private pool alongside it. The beautiful pool is shared and next to Lardy and Ians house as well as the veranda. Your villa is next to it with two nice rooms, shower and dining table. The surrounding is beautifull as well as the pond. Ian is very keen on having contact and would be more then willing to show you around the area and take you to places. If you stay here you either need your own transportation or go with ian. Overall the stay was pleasant.

The place is a little difficult to find as it is located on a farm off the (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) rural road out of Ubon. However Ian and Lardy were kind enough to meet us on the road to guide us to the property. We were shown around the accommodation and a welcome drink offered once we had settled in. Ian and his wife were both very friendly and the breakfast great with both farang food for me and Thai food for my wife and family. You certainly didn't start the day hungry. This is a very relaxing place if you want to enjoy some time in the country on a Thai style farm. The local moo baan (village) has a couple of small shops and a wat and would be an easy walk if you felt active. It is 30 km out of Ubon so not ideal if you intend to spend most of your time in the city. However this is shown on the site so it shouldn't come as any surprise. The drive into Ubon on the 4005 is a pleasant one through some lovely rural country and small moo baans. Both bedrooms were spacious with TVs although only one had a satellite connection. A huge selection of DVDs were available if you struck a rainy day. Coffee and tea was available and a fridge stocked with plenty of cold water and milk. The bathroom was the usual Thai wet room, which is never my preference but that's often the standard in Thailand so get used to it. There is limited farang style farm accommodation available in the North East of Thailand so if you want to go local for a few days PLantation 21 is a good option.

Sally who is the Airbnb contact was nice and reactive to all the questions I had about her father's place before booking. During my stay, her father Ian and his wife Lardy were very friendly and took very good care of me. They also helped me to enjoy my photography passion by taking me to very good places. They showed me the rural area and told me a lot of stories about Thailand and the rural life. This is definitely a place you want to stay if you look for a change of scene to escape the big cities life.
