Thomas and his friends attending a conference here were nice when here. After they left, we walked into the kitchen to find smoke smell, and the supply cabinet that was locked before they came, open, with all the new costco sized food containers from the supply closet left as empty containers on counters. Everything was gone or used in a fashion requiring it be discarded so that future guests would not have contaminated food. The bedroom next to the kitchen smelled strongly of smoke in and on things in the room. We aired out the house overnight, and laundered all linens. At 7am the morning after they left, the rug, bed, linens, mattress pad, etc smelled strongly of smoke. We took all large items like pillows and comforters smelling of smoke to professional cleaning as our systems were too small for those items. The professional cleaning service verified the smoke. Our cleaners, and workmen, verified the strong smoke smell. Later our next door neighbors verified the smoke smell around the house in all downstairs rooms. We spent 8 hours the day after Thomas and his friends left pulling items one at a time for cleaning and then rechecking every 15 minutes. We asked for reimbursement for the professional cleaning service and were offered a small percentage back which we refused (not worth it). 5 days later, we still have smoke migrating around the house, through the living room, kitchen, bath, dining area etc. We are washing walls, doors, beds and cushions, pillows etc along with the usual cleaning that happens every time guests change, which includes washing floors, linens and textiles.
