I almost always leave guest five star reviews, and almost never leave negative comments except in the most extreme conditions. In this case, I left Logan five stars as usual and kept the negative comments to myself because I didn’t believe they were worth affecting her rating on here. However, after reading the disparaging comments about my apt, I’d be doing other hosts a disservice to not disclose the difficulty I experienced when the guest first arrived. They key turns to the left instead of the right. That caused a commotion where she threatened to cancel the reservation, and book another listing. I had to call my landlord’s son to come over to show her how to lock and unlock a simple dead bolt lock. One that over 30 other guests have unlocked time and again without l for years. I even waived the cleaning fee after the initial issue with the key, to show in good faith that I was being accommodating. So I’d warn any other hosts to proceed with caution that if this guest feels inconvenienced or disappointed in any way, she may severely impact your ratings. I’d also like to add that I am very upfront about the issues in the apt. It is an old apt with cosmetic issues that I specify in my description clearly. There are several picture of the apt, and if there are no kitchen tables in the pictures, I’m not sure why someone would expect them when they showed up. I felt her review was unfair so for the first time ever as a host I felt I needed to reply. Especially since I left a glowing review in spite of my actual experience.
