OVERVIEW. If you want easy/direct access to 3 of the area's most stunning "hidden beaches," the near-by jungle paths and a more unique Mexican experience away from the Plaza crowds, Casita Arte provides a great option. A traditional/rustic-style large studio apartment, Casita Arte, offers its own kitchen (equipped with all the basics) and it's own en suite bathroom. It's a fun, unique and airy "birds' perch," featuring decorative wrought iron windows with treetop views and a small balcony reached by going up an old-world-style metal spiral staircase.

Guests like our "best of both worlds" aspect - close in yet worlds apart, away from the bustling Plaza and nighttime high-noise levels and with the charm of the nearby jungle and its ambiance.

DESCRIPTION. Architecturally, the 12' by 12' apartment is "classic Mexican rustic" with many fun hand-crafted features including hand-applied blue color-concrete walls.

INTERIOR. It has a full kitchen equipped with basics needed for preparing eat-in meals, a table and chairs, full-size bed with an ornately-carved wooden headboard, a dresser and two Equipale (pig skin) lounge chairs. There is a built in closet for storage and an under-the-counter kitchen storage area.

A sweet and romantic "star" lamp hangs over the bed and other fun lamps and lamp shades are also hand-crafted.

NEIGHBORHOOD AND NATURAL AMBIANCE. The setting is an active-by-day, tranquil-by-the night traditional Mexican Colonia (neighborhood) with much bird activity and nature sounds - crickets at night to lull you to sleep - and an occasional outburst from a rooster or two to add spice.

Roosters crowing, dogs sometimes barking, morning Banda music from a neighboring house is natural to a Mexican village and a part of the charm of Sayulita, now designated "Pueblo Magico," (Magic Town) by the Federal Government.

Abundant flowering trees, fruit and palm trees add cooling green, fragrance and mystery to the large garden which surrounds the entire structure.

The area is always about 5 degrees cooler than other areas in Sayulita, it's true! There are frequent cooling valley breezes. The high-speed ceiling fan helps to keep you cool and acts as a natural mosquito repellent (if present, not frequent) as mosquitoes cannot lite with the brisk air movement from the fan. A mosquito net hovers above the bed, prepared, but rarely used by guests.

SECURITY. Private and secure, there is a separate keyed entrance with the entire perimeter walled, fenced and gated for added security and privacy, softened by beautiful tropical plants and trees.

Où se situe le logement

Sayulita, Nayarit, Mexique

THE NEIGHBORHOOD. The cluster of houses in our little Colonia (neighborhood) is a mix between traditional Mexican houses and a new high-end resort compound.

Heading south on Sayulita's cobblestone main road, Av. Revolucion, the walk takes you from Sayulita’s bustling plaza and beach scene (and famous surf break!), to the greener, cleaner and much cooler (five degrees cooler) south side of town.

Compared the Plaza hustle and bustle, the peace and tranquility of the area is like a huge sigh of relief!

Plaza noise with amped-up bands playing into the wee hours, occasional loud fireworks and just nighttime noise simply CANNOT be heard here.

Formerly much more of a nature getaway than currently, the area still offers much in the way of satisfying a thirst for nature, away from the bustle and noise of the Plaza.

NATURE. Town has encroached over the years, but still, at night, is the cacophony of crickets, the summertime chorus of frogs and rain bugs, bird calls and bird song, fabulous butterflies as big as birds and tiny hummingbirds drinking nectar from our many blooming trees - the magnificent dark orange Tabachin, both yellow and red Copa de Oro, purple Jacaranda, Amapa, various colored Bugambilia.

This is a bird-watcher's paradise! Year-round flocks of various birds, including the comical Chachalacas and in-coming flocks of the sweet but noisy Pericos (green wild parakeets) will keep you charmed and entertained.

HIDDEN BEACHES. And, still very very close by - just across the road - are two jungle paths which lead to various secluded beaches and constitute the back way into town, which skirts the road. The beaches are Patzcuarito, Playa Escondido, Carracitos and Playa de los Muertos. At night the crashing surf at Patzcuarito can sometimes be heard.

And, of course there is the amazing night sky still unpolluted by closer to the center of town lights. All the constellations are there seeming close enough to touch and full moon nights are spectacular.

My partner, Martin, and myself have been active, hands-on, exemplary hosts since 2011. We are an international couple, who because of this, are able hosts serving a world community of travelers. We have strong ties to four countries and consider ourselves "citizens of the world." As travelers ourselves we understand the needs of travelers and when we travel, travel as Airbnb guests. We have a great appreciation for our guests, as we know and understand both experiences. Whether we are on the premises - to interact with and enjoy our guests - or if we are traveling, year round we provide good, caring and professional service from ourselves and our dedicated staff who are also frequently on-site and available. Both Martin and I are active/working poets, with me also a fine artist (painter), working on our various arts-related projects and businesses. We have family and friends all over the world - in Mexico, the UK, US, Spain, Canada, France, Greece, Portugal, Ireland - and a distinct and deep passion for each of these "our" countries and cultures. We are kind and personable people who enjoy the lively exchange of ideas and engaging discussions on all topics or, alternately, silence is also good. Other passions are nature, long walks, philosophy, good food, GOOD FRIENDS, music and dancing. Our strong belief is that there are more similarities and connections between people than differences. We appreciate a good sense of humor, a positive and open outlook, flexibility, reasonableness and going with the flow. Each travel experience has the ability to only strengthen the bond between us all. We strongly believe that travel is the universal teacher and the universal equalizer.
