Retreat to the warmth, comfort, and special beauty of my 3-bedroom newly renovated Vermont schoolhouse. Located in the hamlet of Wolcott, it is just 25 minutes from Stowe center. The house is sunlit, with a large kitchen, dining room, and two baths.

Le logement

The schoolhouse has large windows throughout the house that admit great quantities of sunlight and glorious views. The ground floor is loft-style, each area opening onto the next; colors and textures create a soft yet pleasing sense of spaciousness. The large country kitchen is equipped with a center island for food preparation, a cozy breakfast nook, and a range of appliances to satisfy the needs of even the most discriminating food lovers.

The kitchen opens directly into the dining room, which has a rustic pine farmer's table that sits 8 comfortably, along with a handmade sideboard and an antique chest. Just beyond the dining room area is a charming living room with a new plasma TV and DVD player. Furnishings include one-of-a-kind antiques and contemporary pieces by some of the finest Vermont artisans. There is also a full bathroom with a large, tiled walk in shower.

The second floor has three bedrooms, two with skylights facing the Mount Mansfield range to the west. In the central hallway, there is a day bed with trundle; nearby a small loft providing a magical hideaway for children. There is also a study with a large work desk, wireless internet, and bookshelves. The master bedroom, with its own private balcony, is perfect for enjoying your morning coffee or meditation. It also has a separate seating area, a hand-crafted armoire, and small gas stove to provide plenty of warmth on cold days. There is also a second full bathroom with a fine old claw-foot bathtub, as well as a separate laundry/linen room with a new washer and dryer.

In Winter, you can ski(cross-country and downhill), snowboard, snowshoe, or stay indoors to read, write and cozy up with a cup of hot chocolate; in Spring and Summer, you can swim, hike, bike, fish, then come home and enjoy a barbeque on the front deck; in Fall, you can explore the foliage, farmer's markets and the fine food at local restaurants in nearby towns. In short, the schoolhouse offers a glorious retreat from hectic city life.

The property is located on 4.5 acres in Wolcott with superb 360 degree views of farmlands, woodlands, meadows, and the Mount Mansfield range nearby. Wolcott (and the surrounding environs), has become a model for sustainable living, with its state-of-the-art organic farms, artisanal food products, and farmers' markets.

Please note there is a three-night minimum stay with a maximum of six guests.

Come to the schoolhouse once, and you will assuredly want to return!

Florence's school house made our trip to Vermont. What already looked like a beautiful home online turned out to be an absolute paradise when we arrived late at night. The communication and check-in process were very easy, with all the instructions sent in a timely manner so we did not have to worry at all. The house is a short drive from Stowe, and an even shorter drive from a number or places in Wolcott. Views are beautiful and the inside of the house is tastefully decorated with children's artwork, artifacts from Florence's many travels and has all the amenities you need. The love and care reflected in each room made spending time in the house a big part of our trip to Vermont, especially the day it rained. I strongly recommend this place and suggest you plan on spending time enjoying the house itself.

PERFECT! We were looking forward to our stay at this charming school house, but were afraid we had built up our expectations too much! We did not! This home is perfect in every way. From the first time we saw it as we drove up the road, we were charmed. Of note are the amazing extras available in the kitchen. We were able to use the space so well because there was no lack of anything to cook with and serve on. Super well stocked with pots and pans, electric appliances, six burner stove - just everything you could possible want or need. The view was second to none. Being able to enjoy the view across the road of the red barn, green field and multi-colored trees and hills beyond, will forever be in our memories. I enjoyed quiet time every morning while the rest of the house slept, to just enjoy the soak in the colorful view. This place is lovely and we would stay here again without hesitation! Thank you Florence for providing us with unparalleled views, accommodations and amenities on our first (but not last) trip to Vermont!

An absolutely lovely country house, in scenic Wolcott. The natural light, beautiful decor and property, made our vacation in Vermont just perfect. The kind neighbors made us feel local and very welcomed.

Florence replied to our inquiry promptly and I was instantly charmed after our exchange. The old schoolhouse is lovingly renovated and is kept very clean . The sunset view to the west is simply stunning and this is a wonderful place to relax and explore the natural world surrounding . A true gem in Vermont!

This home should be in Airbnb's 'Back to School' Picks. It's everything you would hope for in a rental. A real home, unique, spacious, comfortable and welcoming. Million dollar, 180º panoramic views over fields, forests and majestic mountains with the slopes of Stowe ski area in the distance, and a short drive away. Sunsets from your balcony, a lawn to run around on or enjoy BBQs on in the summer, and a fully equipped kitchen that's a joy to cook in. The open floor plan is very conductive to quality family time and the bedrooms are inviting and cozy to sleep in. It's an easy hour+ drive from Burlington and 15-20 mins to gourmet shopping and restaurants, or a little further to the Ben & Jerry's factory, Cabbot Cheese outlet, vineyards, distilleries, and orchards. The only slight downside would be that it is close to the road (a quiet dirt road), but there isn't much traffic to worry about. This is really tops! Best of the best.
