The home is in no way intended for parties, events or gatherings for any overnight reservations. We provide sleeping accommodations only. Occupancy is checked occasionally via exterior cameras and you may be charged an extra per person fee for any extra and unapproved guests staying overnight, at the end of your stay.

*** CHECK IN: We offer self check-in via lockbox. Two days prior to your arrival, we will message detailed check-in instructions and the lockbox code to you. If you require early check-in outside of our normal 4pm check in time, you can message me and I will let you know if this is possible. Regardless, you will always receive a message from me as soon as the house is ready for your arrival at 4pm or before.

*** TRANSPORTATION: Uber and Lyft are used by guests

*** SECURITY CAMERA: For security and occupancy, night vision surveillance audio/visual cameras are installed and recording outdoors at this property.

*** KITCHEN USE: You may use the kitchen for meal preparations that don't involve strong odors. Please refrain from cooking any fish or microwaving fish or washing dinnerware in the dishwasher that has not been first cleaned off in the garbage and/or the sink. Odors that come from strong odor producing foods, such as fish or some spices may take additional effort to clean to rid the odor from the house, upholstery and/or appliances. Extra charges may incur for extra cleaning due to any lingering strong food odors from fish or spices. Please also use the splatter screens provided (3 sizes) over pots in which you are using cooking oil. Oil that gets splattered on nearby walls will take extra effort to clean and may permanently mar the walls.

***SMOKING of any kind is prohibited anywhere inside or outside anywhere on the property, It is greatly appreciate it if everyone would remember to keep that in mind. If anyone must smoke, please be considerate and do so near the public sidewalk, and please pickup and put water on and dispose of your cigarette butts in a empty can or bottle and put in the large trash can in the garage/carport. Tossing them in the plants, on the sidewalk or in the wood chip (tanbark area) or inside any of the house trash cans, is strictly prohibited. Please remember that littering means that someone will still need to clean up after you. Any residual smoke smell that is found in the house may incur a $500 cleaning/damage fee at the end of your stay.

***LOUD NOISE (music, loud talking, loud laughing, screaming, etc.) coming from the house and/or property after 9pm or before 7am is not allowed. We have older neighbors that will call me and/or the police if noise levels are inappropriate and a nuisance. I have an obligation to uphold the peace of my neighbors as well as create a comfortable atmosphere for my guests. Upon a neighbor complaining, noise levels will be checked via exterior camera or driving by, and a message via Airbnb will be sent to you. If no response, Airbnb will be notified to ask you to vacate the premises permanently, if the nuisance behavior is not immediately ceased.

***HOUSE DECOR: Please do not reorganize/move the decorations, appliances or furniture in the house. Anything broken, damaged or missing may be charged to your deposit at the end of your stay.

***LUGGAGE: Please be careful with your luggage and try to keep luggage away from hitting/touching the walls of the house. These are lathe and plaster walls; luggage if not careful can leave black marks as well as dings on the walls. These are very difficult to fix/repair. It's understandable that there is the occasional accident, but it would be much appreciated if everyone would be mindful of this.

***SHOES: Lastly, shoes as much as possible, should be removed when inside the house. There will be packaged new disposable slippers for anyones use if needed in both bathrooms. :-)

Our beautiful house has been in our family for 65 years. It belonged to my grandparents, who were of Hungarian and Irish decent. They bought the land and moved the house from another San Jose location, to where it stands now, in the early 1950's. During renovation, we tried to keep many of the original aspects of the home as that is what makes it a unique experience. With it's 10 foot coved ceilings and plaster walls and original wood work throughout, it speaks of a time period long gone. It now proudly boasts all new electrical throughout as well as a new 200 Amp main, new modern lighting including canned lights and ceiling fans with remotes; central heating and air-conditioning, controlled easily using the Nest thermostat. It also has WIFI, a 55" Smart TV, a computer and printer for your convenience. You can feel safe knowing that there are 4 hardwired Nest fire and CO alarms located in all bedrooms and the common area. All exterior doors have security alarms and will chime when opened...peace of mind if you have concerns about children opening doors. There are all new sewage waste lines throughout and new gas lines from each appliance all the way to the meter, all done by licensed professionals we have worked with for several years. Two new toilets as well as all but one (2nd shower) faucets and fixtures throughout. There are security motion lights along the driveway and in the back yard as well as security cameras which monitor both front and back exterior of the property only.... And yes, there is plenty of parking for at least 4 cars off street if need be. No RV parking however is permitted. The hardwood floors are original and have been lovingly refinished. The kitchen cabinets, although original have been meticulously restored. Note, for your info that there was original lead paint, now safely encapsulated under the new latex painted surfaces. The cabinetry is 110 year old and even so, we chose to refinish the existing rather than replace it as it's so suiting and beautiful for it's craftsmanship and originality. The kitchen hinges and handles were painstakingly stripped of three layers of paint and reused in all their glory. We were able to even find a small dishwasher that would accommodate one of the cabinet spaces and the 21" counter depth!! There is also a new garbage disposal installed into the original porcelain farm sink. You will love and appreciate the oil rubbed bronze fixtures all through our home. We wanted to bring luxury to this home as well as keep the original artistic craftsman aesthetic. Enjoy the brand new stainless appliances in the kitchen as well as the beautiful furnishings by Restoration Hardware in every room. Unique pieces will keep you interested at every glance and hopefully make your experience rememberable. Sleep well on comfortable spring coiled mattresses on both full beds and bunk beds, and an 12 inch thick memory foam mattress on our queen bed. There is an air mattress by request only. All bed frames are French modern hand crafted out of metal by Restoration Hardware. Although small, the back yard has also been renovated. With newly stamped concrete and a beautiful garden area. Enjoy a morning or late day coffee or tea sitting in the modular cushioned seating. There is even a fig tree, lemon and peach tree that have been started and hopefully will grow to full maturity in no time.

A little interesting history about the street and area surrounding our home....The American pioneers who were the “the Donner Party” also know as the Donner/Reed Party, of which half perished in the Sierra Nevada in 1846 of starvation, and out of desperation resorted to cannibalism, while emigrating from Illinois to California was led and organized by George Donner and James F. Reed. George Donner, unfortunately, met his demise in the Sierra Nevada, but James F. Reed was one of the survivors (due to taking a different route once ousted from the original group after killing one member in a dispute)...although also facing starvation on his route he eventually ended up in San Jose CA following his return to and eventual rescue of the surviving Donner group. He bought a 500 acre ranch that spanned the area near downtown San Jose to the Coyote River which included the property our beautiful house is on. Eventually James Reed subdivided and built the homes around the area and sold them. Several of the streets around us are named after his family. He died in 1874 and is buried at Oak Hill Cemetery, just a 5 minute drive from our home. Our house falls within the parameters the original 500 acre ranch and the fact it's still in our family after three generations, we are excited to offer our home to you with it's many fond memories in an area with such a rich history...Something that we hope you will also enjoy knowing, when having an enjoyable get away at our Airbnb.

Our house does nearly corner (by one building) a busy street and although there is also a carwash across from us (closes in the evening for the night); a local bar adjacent (Sometimes music is played at the bar late at night on weekends) , and a smaller commercial building next door (very quiet business), once you are on the property, peace and luxury are what stands out. Inside the house, even though most of the windows are original single pane, the thick lathe and plaster walls and recently cleaned out and newly insulated attic seem to buffer much of the noise that might be happening. Once in a while when you look out the dining room window, you may notice a neighborhood cat on the tin roof of the building next door...reminds me of the movie "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof"...Got to love it! Please know though, this is an older well established neighborhood with home owners that are both new to the area and also many homeowners who have lived on this street for 20, 30, 40 and even 50+ years. Don't forget too, that we are situated conveniently only a 4 minute drive to the Convention Center, 4 min drive to CEFCU Stadium (AKA Spartan Stadium), 6 min drive to SJSU, 5 minute drive to downtown Willow Glen and a 5 to 6 min drive to downtown and all the amazing restaurants and nightlife that you can imagine as well as 6-7 minute drive to SAP Center. With a less than 10 min drive to SJC airport you will find it convenient to and from, especially with ample off street parking. If you feel adventurous, a 60 min drive to San Francisco, 30 minutes to Santa Cruz and 50 minutes to the Monterey coast and two hours to Napa (wine country) will satisfy your California experience!

We have listed them on Airbnb after complete renovations in order to let others enjoy the rich history and unique feel of staying in our homes, in the Capital of Silicon Valley, situated a short 5 to 15 minute or so drive to all the excitement that San Jose has to offer.
