Newly built, bright modern guest house with private access. Stay in our comfortable, clean casita. This lovely, light-filled space sits behind our home, in our sunny garden with fresh berries and lemons, with a large wood farm table for you to enjoy morning coffee. The studio has a small coffee + tea station, fridge, wifi, and sunny garden with outdoor couch, umbrella, and table. Our quiet street is 3 blocks from College Ave, full of great restaurants and shops, and close to BART.
Awash in natural light, this modern studio is set in our beautiful little backyard with a lemon tree, sunny garden, large wood farm table for eating meals in the garden, and a cozy space to rest at the end of your travels.
This is a brand new, modern casita in our backyard with its own entrance. It is a beautiful, bright room behind our home. It has a little bar area with mini-fridge, tea/coffee bar (with a french press), sink... no stove. It has a modern, luxurious bathroom with radiant floor heating. The mattress is very comfortable (very firm and new), a menu of pillows (down and non-down) and wifi.
We have traveled the world and stayed in many hotels, and have tried to make this room a 5-star hotel experience: white towels, fresh, new bed linens, white robes, down pillows, floor heat in the bathroom, locally-roasted coffee, and perhaps a few small chocolates!
This space is professionally cleaned after each guest.
It's an excellent location: four blocks from public transit, a neighborhood full of restaurants, cafes, and shops, quick access to BART and College Avenue. It's in between two trendy Oakland neighborhoods: Rockridge and Temescal, full of some of the highest-quality foodie establishments in the world.
Despite being 4 blocks from BART and the freeway, we are far enough away from the crowds and traffic because our house is on a quiet residential street.
The room has one queen bed and a private, modern bathroom. We provide a travel crib upon request and have had many guests stay with an infant or toddler.
We offer complimentary locally-roasted coffee and teas and beer/wine. We provide standard provisions like clean towels and linens, hairdryer, etc. Our own washer/dryer can be made available to you (inside our house) if you coordinate with us. We have a nice backyard where you can enjoy your morning coffee, pick some fresh lemons, or just sit and lounge in the sun.
Please note, the one down-side of this space is the SUNLIGHT! It is gorgeous and awash in natural light. However, if you are a light-sensitive sleeper, please consider staying elsewhere, as its bright in the morning.
Another note, there is no TV.

We interact with guests if they'd like to say hi and chat, but we are also very busy, so we may not get a chance to meet you. The casita is self-check-in.
About us: we are two busy parents: one working as a progressive nonprofit consultant and the other working for a sustainable real estate development firm. We have two toddlers! Our daughter is 3 and our son is 1.5 years. We live an active lifestyle - running, hiking, biking, and cooking a lot. We travel quite a lot - for work and play - and have used Airbnb in other countries and love it. We are busy, but usually around in the evening cooking dinner or watching a movie or out walking our dog.
Please note: we have a friendly golden retriever who is 8 years old, very sweet, and will want to be your friend. She doesn't go into the guest room, but you might see her in the yard sunning herself.
We ask for a 2-night minimum. We only accept 2-night reservations for weekends. For weekdays, we might be flexible on the minimum stay , so get in touch if you're in a bind!
We strive to be equal opportunity hosts. We open our home to people with diverse backgrounds and traditions whatever your race, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, nationality, culture, religion, and physical and mental abilities. When booking, we WILL ask you for the purpose of your travels and who will stay here. We do so not to discriminate, but because we simply want to get a feel for your communication style and know why you are coming (we have declined when people want to use the space for a party or wedding preparations or when people are booking for someone else).
Feel free to ask us for any tips about Oakland, Berkeley, San Francisco, and beyond!
No smoking anywhere on our property.
No smokers please.
Please remove shoes upon entering.
Please do not put your suitcase on the bed! Please respect the space and keep it clean.

We're a family with two little ones: a toddler and infant, and a golden retriever. So we are very busy! We love to garden, go to parks, restaurants, and take our kids on fun trips.
We love the outdoors - hiking, skiing, biking - so can point you to the best places to get outside and see big trees, gorgeous coastline, and spectacular mountains just outside of our favorite place, the San Francisco Bay area.
We've been in Oakland for 4 years after living in San Francisco for 7 years. Rockridge is a great neighborhood full of delicious restaurants and small businesses. When we're not in the city or playing in the mountains or cooking healthy food, we are traveling around the world - most recently stayed with Airbnb in Spain, Oregon and the central CA coast! We are big travelers - recent trips have been to Alaska, Brazil, Italy, Hawaii, and many local California trips. We are also big cooks and foodies - so hopefully you'll get to join us for a meal or some culinary adventure in our kitchen, or we'll give you great tips on the best food spots in the Bay Area.
We now have a baby boy, toddler daughter, and a golden retriever in our home, so hopefully you'll meet them if you stay with us!
