An absolutely gorgeous home!!! A period home, so charming and so well cared for. Melanie, Desmond and Gordon were the perfect hosts. Very welcoming, inviting us to the main house for "a cuppa", very helpful with all our questions, direction inquiries, places to visit and all. We highly recommend a stay with them!!! Beautiful home, beautiful people, beautiful Ireland!!!

Prachtige authentieke cottage. Van alle gemakken voorzien. Heerlijke landelijke omgeving. Dorpje vlakbij (5 min met auto) voor de dagelijkse boodschappen, restaurantjes aanwezig. Bijzonder aardige en behulpzame gastheer en gastvrouw. Zeer aan te raden.

My husband and I decided that we would tour the southern section of Southern Ireland in my little convertible to celebrate our wedding anniversary at the end of June 2015. We needed a central location to set up as a base to allow us to tour the area and return each evening after our travels. We logged onto Airbnb, put in our search criteria and up popped what looked like the ideal cottage to suit all our needs. Its location, situated in the expansive countryside farmland belonging to Glenlohane House, was perfect - a stunning little cottage with rambling fields of crops all around. The cottage dates back to the 1600’s and although many of its original features have been retained it is now a spacious cottage boasting two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen, a dining area, a living room with a large open fire and all the mod cons to go with it right down to microwaves and wifi. Outside we had private secure parking for our car, a shed fully stocked with wood for the fire. Our host’s Desmond, his wife Melanie and son Gordon were exceptional! They were extremely friendly and very helpful with their extensive knowledge of the area. Melanie’s soda is to die for! She gave us a loaf on our arrival – delicious! In summary, we had a fantastic week. Our wedding anniversary each year is a special event for us and this beautiful cottage, the genuine friendship displayed by our hosts and the simply beautiful countryside made 2015 extra special Gordon, Desmond, Melanie, please continue what you are doing. You were perfect hosts, and please don’t change a thing with the cottage, as it is perfect as it is!! Davy and Pauline

As the 10th generation living at Glenlohane, I came over from Virginia three years ago to help my parents with our farm/estate. As Glenlohane is Bord Failte approved and a part of the prestigious Hidden Ireland, you may find us easily on the web from anywhere.

My family and I grew up mostly in Connecticut but Dad was born here on the farm, studied in America, did his stint jumping out of planes for the US Air Force, then worked at Guinness in Dublin and in NYC. Both of my parents are active historians and are really interesting/fun to talk to - and they always make the time to chat with guests - and me if I'm lucky.

I also went away to school, then college, studied in Paris as well, and worked in Boston, Dublin, NYC and Richmond, Virginia before coming here.

I do a lot of sailing/racing in Kinsale and Crosshaven. And...we are REALLY into vintage motorcycles. Thus, we have started a motorcycle touring business as we are probably the most ideally situated because of our knowledge/love of bikes, facilities and location standpoints - you will note this from the website if you care to look up Glenlohane Country House.

I have stayed in a few Airbnb destinations and it has been really great. This appears to be an exciting community of not only places to stay but also one appears to get to know the host(s) which is what we are all about anyhow.
