We would love to get to know you and will make time for you. In my opinion, you are our eyes to the world and guests ALWAYS have an interesting perspective on things. If you are someone who will appreciate our highest level of friendliness, knowledge of the area and the history of the place, you are our type of people.
One week minimum stay (Saturday-Saturday). Many repeat customers love to just have it for multiple weeks to relax and see the sites.
All beds are made with nice, soft and even ironed sheets. It's true!
No smoking in the cottage but it's ok outside. Please treat our cottage with the respect it deserves. You will see it is lovingly revered by us. We do not allow pets. It is also wheelchair accessible as my late grandmother lived here and we wanted her to live out the remainder of her years with dignity and comfort. PAYMENT TERMS: We ask for 375 euro to secure your cottage reservation and the remainder is due when you arrive plus a 300 euro security deposit (refundable, of course, when you leave it in nice condition). We will send you an email for the deposit from (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) (which you do not have to be a member of). Thank you!
As the 10th generation living at Glenlohane, I came over from Virginia three years ago to help my parents with our farm/estate. As Glenlohane is Bord Failte approved and a part of the prestigious Hidden Ireland, you may find us easily on the web from anywhere.
My family and I grew up mostly in Connecticut but Dad was born here on the farm, studied in America, did his stint jumping out of planes for the US Air Force, then worked at Guinness in Dublin and in NYC. Both of my parents are active historians and are really interesting/fun to talk to - and they always make the time to chat with guests - and me if I'm lucky.
I also went away to school, then college, studied in Paris as well, and worked in Boston, Dublin, NYC and Richmond, Virginia before coming here.
I do a lot of sailing/racing in Kinsale and Crosshaven. And...we are REALLY into vintage motorcycles. Thus, we have started a motorcycle touring business as we are probably the most ideally situated because of our knowledge/love of bikes, facilities and location standpoints - you will note this from the website if you care to look up Glenlohane Country House.
I have stayed in a few Airbnb destinations and it has been really great. This appears to be an exciting community of not only places to stay but also one appears to get to know the host(s) which is what we are all about anyhow.
