Golden Barrel Homestead is conveniently located for visitors to Palm Springs, Joshua Tree and it is just 12 minutes to Pioneertown with its legendary Pappy and Harriet’s restaurant and music venue.
The house is nestled in the Mojave Desert, within the quiet community of Juniper Terrace. At just over 4,000 feet above sea level the area is characterized by an abundance of Joshua Trees and wildlife. It is set in a one-acre parcel of land surrounded by outstanding views. To the west is the San Bernardino Mountain Range, including Southern California’s highest peak - San Gorgonio. To the north, among the surrounding hills which make up the beautiful Yucca Valley is Chaparros Peak.
Golden Barrel Homestead dates back to 1949. The original adobe brick structure was built as part of the trend of building homestead cabins in the desert subsequent to the passing of the Small Tract Act of 1938. In the mid-nineties the bedrooms and the kitchen were added to the homestead and the barn built. The house has two bedrooms, two bathrooms and an open plan living area. Additionally, there are four defined outdoor living spaces consisting of two dining areas and two lounging areas. Each of these areas offer views of the surrounding natural beauty and are perfect for watching sunrises, sunsets and stargazing.

We offer fresh pressed juice delivery at Golden Barrel Homestead. Guests are able to have fresh juices delivered to their door daily (or in the fridge when they arrive!) by local Joshua Tree juice guru Angela de la Agua. Menus and pricing for this service will be emailed upon request.

VACATION RENTAL AGREEMENT - (THIS IS NOT A LEASE) This is a vacation rental agreement for a temporary vacation stay at a managed vacation rental property. THIS AGREEMENT IS NOT A LEASE AND CONVEYS NO RIGHTS IN REAL PROPERTY. By agreeing to these Terms & Conditions, you stipulate and agree that you have not and will not receive a real property interest in or rights to the vacation rental property.
[1.] The number of people who may be at the property at any one time is the same number of renters stated on the reservation confirmation. In other words – no non-renting guests are permitted. If you would like to invite guests over for drinks or dinner you must receive permission ahead of time from the owner. No more than two cars are allowed on the property at a time without permission. Cars may only be parked in designated parking areas – never alongside the roads/drives. If the renter wants to seek permission to vary from any of these occupancy and/or parking requirements you must receive permission ahead of time from the owner.
[2.] The lease begins at 3 p.m. on the check-in date and ends at 11 a.m. on the check-out date (unless other times are approved in writing by the owner).
[3.] The county-wide noise curfew is at 10pm sharp every night. Actions by renters that result in neighbor complaints or Police being called to the Property will result in a minimum $250 charge and subject to immediate eviction.
[4.] Dogs are not allowed at The Graham Residence, if you would like to bring your service animal, please let us know.
[5.] An illegal or abusive use of The Graham Residence’s Internet access is not allowed.
[6.] No professional photo shoots allowed without written permission from the owner. If you're interested in having a photo shoot at The Graham Residence please write the owner for discussion first.
Unauthorized use of the name “The Graham Residence," images of the The Graham Residence property, exterior, surroundings, or interior for use in the selling, advertising, marketing and/or promotion of any product or business or used in any tv or film production is unlawful and will be pursued with appropriate legal action.
[7.] Special events such as weddings and parties are not permitted without written permission from the owner.
[8.] The guest shall allow the owner (or his designee) access to the property for purposes of repairs and inspection if required. The owner shall exercise this right of access in a reasonable manner.
[9.] If for any reason beyond the control of the owner the house is unavailable the owner may cancel the rental agreement and a full refund of all fees paid will be made to the guest.
[10.] Smoking is not allowed inside the house or within 15 feet of any open door.
[11.] The owner may withhold all or part of the deposit if any of the house rules are broken. Cause for withholding deposit funds include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Damage to the premises or contents
• Missing items requiring replacement (including keys)
• Excessive cleaning required
• Not complying fully with the "before you depart" checklist
• Lingering smell of tobacco smoke
• Charges for mailing personal items left behind
• Evidence of more persons using the property than were authorized
• Evidence of a dog that wasn't authorized
• Unauthorized late check out
[12.] We do not allow any Saturday check-ins or check-outs unless more than 10 days are rented. We can not automate this on Airbnb so any reservation having a Saturday check-in or check-out must be altered to either add a day or shift to accommodate the linked Friday and Saturday weekend nights. We apologize for this inconvenience.
We're based in the San Francisco Bay Area and love spending time in our high desert home in Yucca Valley, California. Both of us are working professionals and part-time artists. Graham is a veteran teacher of visual and theater arts. Paul is horticulturalist and co-owner of a landscape design, installation and care company. We enjoy our lives as creative people and love to share it with our family friends.
